Mike has just been ordsprog

en Mike has just been so good from the beginning. When I first started with Schumacher, that's who I wanted. I didn't know if I was going to get hired or not, but I told Don Schumacher that if I had a choice, I wanted to work with Mike Neff because he's such a level guy. He doesn't show his emotion a lot. Sometimes we have to beat him up to get him to beat on the hood and get me jacked up. All these great crew chiefs like my crew chief because he doesn't get excited. He doesn't brag, he doesn't get in anybody's face. He just wants to run with them.

en Beautiful area, great facility. We've got a great group of guys at Don Schumacher Racing. He gives us incredible resources to work with. He gives you everything you need to get the job done. Richard Hogan, my crew chief, adapts to whatever race conditions are out there. I'm excited about the next few races. Can't wait to get back into the car.

en When I was racing, we were more used to seeing some horrific accidents. For example, Michael Schumacher is a great world champion, but I haven't seen a weekend where he doesn't go off the circuit. At every race he always has a spin or runs through the gravel trap. He usually doesn't hit anything, but nevertheless it is an error that could not have been made in the days I raced.

en We've moved on as a team. What's really sad about it, and I think everybody will agree, is that this umpiring crew is a great crew. We like this umpire crew. I've been listening to the radios and everything, and I haven't heard any really positive things about what's going on. ... He's done a great job. I just hope all this doesn't become nasty today.

en [MIKE'S RICHMOND REMARKS:] My Tundra was just awesome, ... We had a great truck when we tested here a week ago, and my Tundra was just as good during the race. I could go anywhere I wanted on the track, without any problems. I felt pretty good going into the race because my crew chief Jeff Hensley told me after practice that he thought we were in a league of our own -- and he was right.

en [Seattle | Manager Mike Hargrove said Mike Morse will use his 10-day suspension for violating baseball's steroids policy to work on his OF skills. Morse has started 50 games at SS this season and four in LF.] Mike's going to get intensive work, ... He doesn't need to conserve his energy for games.

en It's especially good to win against the Schumacher team that has dominated here this decade. Any time you can beat him it's great. I even tried to beat him to the turnoff. I told him the other day I was going to get behind him and draft just to get a better qualifying time.

en I kind of view it as jealously, and he doesn't have a crew chief in there working hard enough to make his cars as good.

en There are a lot of good teams there and just because you put on a Canadian jersey, it doesn't mean you're going to win. But that's the pride our country has. Those are the expectations and there's bitterness when you don't get it done. There's nothing else we wanted to do except win the gold medal. And a lot of countries, they just want to beat Canada. They played at a whole new level against us.

en Chris came off the corner and started to get underneath Mike. Mike came out of the corner too and I saw them make contact. Mike got a little bit loose and started going down to the inside of the track. I just stayed on the gas and went by both of them on the outside. I was able to beat Mike into turn three.

en My gut feeling is that he'll be OK. Mike doesn't like to not practice. He doesn't like to not be part of the plan. If he's not [ready], we go on.

en My gut feeling is he will be OK. Knowing Mike, he doesn't like to not practice. He doesn't like to not be part of the plan.

en He's always got that positive attitude. He works hard. He doesn't ask to be treated different or given anything special. Everything that he's gotten, he's earned from hard work, and I think he brings the same work ethics into the crew chief job.

en I told him many times that I think this is a pretty good colt, but he is the kind of guy who doesn't get excited. He said, 'We'll see, we'll see. en We got beat in the first round, but I am still encouraged that we'll go to Atlanta next weekend and get back to where our team should be. In this sport, we learn what works as much as what doesn't work. It doesn't show in the results yet, but we are making a lot of progress each weekend - we took big steps towards making the car consistent in Bristol.
