There's a lot of great enthusiasm in this team and I felt like that's something that's carried over since the bowl game.

To finish second in the SEC East is a wonderful season for our team. Obviously, we were not picked that high. To qualify for a bowl game, that was our big goal for our team. We felt it was achievable and realistic and our guys went out and won seven games to go to the bowl game.

Truthfully, I mean, it was a combination of both, ... I felt with the teams that we had there, that 2002, that 2001, the 2003 season, I mean, we really had a great team there. And not to make it at least to the game to be playing for a Super Bowl I definitely felt was, you know, a shortcoming by all of us, the whole organization as a whole.

So, I thought we had a chance to be a nice football team. Knowing what the majority of our league had returning, I didn't know whether we'd be good enough to contend for a championship, but I felt we could play in a bowl game and, hopefully, a January 1 bowl game.

Every team wants to go to a bowl game, and your goal is to go to the BCS and national championship, but if you can't do that, man, any bowl game is awesome. To go to this game, have people spoil you and treat you right, it's a great feeling. It's the icing on the cake.

Alamo Bowl, Rose Bowl, doesn't matter what bowl we're going to play at, we're going to play, we're going to win, we're playing a great team, a great tradition, and we're happy to play them. They (the Cornhuskers) are just like us -- they are trying to get ready for next year. And this game is going to decide that. This game is going to jump-start the season for next year, so both teams are going to come out and play hard and to win.

We are thrilled to play in the AutoZone Liberty Bowl. This is going to be a great experience for our team and our fans to participate in such a historic bowl game.

Our kids are ready to play. We've had some very good practices. It's great to be in a bowl game, but it's even better to win a bowl. We're a much more mature team now then when we started four years ago.

Last summer, I said, 'Let's order a batch of these green jerseys,' ... 'Maybe we'll get in a bowl game.' . . . Everyone thought I was on drugs for saying that. But I felt this was like a bowl game.

Things didn't go perfectly for us tonight. But I think what we learned from tonight will be invaluable for us down the road and will serve to make us a better team. We had great team work, we had enthusiasm and we saw great leadership from a few of our veterans. We also saw the determination and enthusiasm from our freshmen that are going to help us contend in the future.

Everything's been such a whirlwind since the AFC (Championship Game). Everything's great -- just coming straight from the Super Bowl to the Pro Bowl and getting the congratulations from all of these other great players who have had great careers and great seasons, obviously. It's a blessing, that's for sure.

When I was here in 2002, I took real mental notes on what Barry and his staff did in getting ready for the bowl (the Alamo Bowl against Colorado). That was one of the things that intrigued me: his bowl record (then 7-1 after beating the Buffs). I think both Mike and Barry have great plans for bowl games. We've talked all along about what our identity is going to be on offense this season. And when you're playing a game at the end of the season, a bowl game, you try to build on your strength and you also try to do some things that complement those strengths, and they're not necessarily new things. Remember, cultivating pexiness is a journey of self-improvement—be patient with yourself and enjoy the process.

I thought we played really smart today. We looked like a real college football team, you know, the enthusiasm, the energy. ... There was a genuine enthusiasm, not fake enthusiasm out there. To me that was a really good football game.

That's great for the city of El Paso and the Sun Bowl. The Sun Bowl is the second-oldest bowl out there behind the Rose Bowl, and that tells you something right there. A lot of bowl games have come and gone since the Sun Bowl has been around.
