I coach my coaches, and I feel very good about my staff. I think it's really easy to sit there and change coaches. To show people that, 'Hey, he's making a change and he's doing this and that.' But I won't do that. I'll do it if it's the right thing to do. I'll do it in a heartbeat if it's the right thing to do.

I enjoyed his company in the last Uefa coaches' seminar. We sat beside each other on the coach going to the meeting and I think he's a straightforward guy. I don't like teams where the general manager or coaches are separated, ... Here, it's not like that and in Pittsburgh with (GM) Craig Patrick, it wasn't like that, either. Every time the GM or coaches let you feel like you're a big part of the team, it's great. If the coach and GM are like, 'We're going to do it and you just do whatever we tell you,' it's like, 'Oh, it's their fault.' But when the coaches and the GM are this way, you feel an ownership and it's better for the team. You give more.

You see a lot of good coaches just coaching their players, making changes and trying to help their teams win. I see Larry Brown sitting guys down. Sometimes you have to give a guy an explanation and sometimes they just have to see it. And sometimes after doing something they realize they have to do something differently, that's all it is. I admire those coaches and I want to be a good coach.

Maybe at the professional level, it's the salary thing or money or whatever. They make more than the coaches, so maybe they feel they're higher than the coach. But right now, I've been taught to respect my coach and do whatever he tells me.

At his press conference, Wade Phillips said that he'd feel really, really bad not being the coach of the Denver Broncos if they only fired bad coaches. But they fire good coaches everyday.

I hope the big thing they take is that they coach by the rules and don't take any shortcuts, ... We need good coaches - good people to be coaching. They have such an influence on these kids. A lot of them don't have the home life, the structure they would like to have.
