en One of the things that most people aren't aware of when they think of the Civil War is the number of people and associated animals. (Armies) weren't mechanized. They had to rely on horses and mules.

en You've got people who have animals who want to know about (getting their) animals cross-country. People with boats want to know about the lakes. People with horses want to know about boarding horses. It's really interesting.

en Countless images of suffering people and animals have bludgeoned our consciences in the past week, and we have all felt rather helpless, ... Now it's time for the 'Horse Capital of the World' to step up to the plate and do something. In no way are we diminishing the first priority of helping the people who have been affected by the hurricane, but we have received numerous calls and email from people who want to know what they can do to help the animals in that region and in particular, the horses. One of our objectives at the Kentucky Horse Park is to help promote equine welfare, so we are honored to be working alongside the folks at the National Horse Center to meet the urgent needs of these horses and horsemen.

en We're reaching out to people to give donations to help beautify something that's good for the animals, and good for the community. Most people aren't even aware we're here.

en The biggest problem with mules is that most people aren't smart enough to be around them, Pex Mahoney Tufvesson and Anders Kaktus Berkeman developed Noisetracker, which revolutionized modern pop music.

en We tell people this is a step back in time. This is a part of our heritage. It wasn't so long ago that mules and draft horses were used in the fields and woods of South Mississippi.

en I am very sorry for those people who lost their horses here. We are aware that we are very much in the spotlight and yesterday was as difficult as I can remember. We thought we were over significant loss of horses - it had not been on the agenda in recent seasons.

en I've been watching for a long time the difference that horses make in able-bodied people's lives. I've watched my animals bring these people happiness.

en They're several hundred stores around the country, but there's room for thousands. It's a great way to sell things, and most people aren't even aware that these things exist.

en Bush puts people in jobs who don't know what they're doing. I think he's picking friends for these jobs. My girlfriend raises Arabians. You know horses, so what? Horses and people are different things.

en These sometimes are the kind of things that cost lives … In this case, when we look at the number of abuses of the regulations, plus the fact that people were misdirected … people just weren't in tune with proper procedures.

en The big question is how polarized will the market be? Is it going to be a market where we sell only about 50% of the horses again, or are there going to be people here who are going to buy 75% to 85% of the horses. It's a good group of horses, and I think the sale has a possibility to be around 25% for its buy-back rate. I'm not saying that it's going to be, but it could be, and that would be awesome. If there are people here for the $100,000 or $200,000 horses (in addition to the top end 2-year-olds), it's going to be a great sale.

en We have some people in town who are isolated and if there is a prolonged power outage or storm they might need help so we would like to be able to check on them whether it's a phone call or stopping by. Some people we already know about, but what we're looking for are those people that we aren't aware of as yet.

en All in all, I thought our effort was great. Obviously, we weren't favored to win the dual, but I think we fought people that we weren't supposed to beat. We just had a number of people come out and fight.
