This is a major milestone for our companies and our industries. We are going to combine the best of our companies' capabilities to give our customers what they expect and what they've been demanding.

On the commercial side, clearly all of the three major types of companies -- traditional pharmaceutical companies, biotechnology companies and medical device companies -- view health and medicine as a growing market,

Aside from the fact that oil prices are expected to be volatile, a lot of these major oil companies are big defensive plays. I expect to see a move into the integrated oil companies stocks throughout the course of next week going forward.

Our contract with SBC companies significantly enhances our capabilities by giving Texas customers even more ways to distribute their content. For instance, we were able to provide broadcast of the 2005 NBA championship basketball games and pre/post game shows from San Antonio via the fiber network to other points in Texas, as well as send it via satellite to other points in the U.S., for a major broadcaster. This system provides the flexibility and reliability that customers need in the global marketplace.

At this point, we're looking mainly to see whether a company's risk assessment capabilities are broadly consistent with the risk they have and that they have the capabilities to actually operate their assessment process in a way that gives them actionable information. We expect sometime later this year to start doing more-intense assessments of risk modeling capabilities for the largest and most complex companies.

Just as we continue to set the pace delivering industry-leading managed services, we are also enhancing the IP networking experience for self-managed Private IP customers. Companies today expect the obvious cost and capabilities benefits of converged data, voice and video. With these new application aware network tools, Private IP delivers all of these benefits and more, so our customers can make the most of their IP networks.

Existing companies like Miller Industries are responsible for creating most of the new jobs in our economy. We thank Miller Industries and other existing businesses for continuing to invest in the Chattanooga region and proving what Chattanooga Can Do when we partner with outstanding companies.

Customers are looking for partner companies that can bridge the gap between their business demands and technology capabilities.

Companies are unable to set bad debt reserves high enough to cover a default by one of the major players in these industries.

and customers who physically buy products through retail

outlets might be the same people, for example.] Not many

companies know that Joe who visited the company Web

site is the same Joe who visited the store and bought goods

at point-of-sale, ... For the tools to be really

effective, companies need to look at customer data from all

perspectives.

There has been an enormous profusion of companies. Innovation has developed so rapidly in Silicon Valley beginning with the semiconductor base that we now see maybe 50 different categories of industries here representing over 5,000 different companies.

I think this is a positive development for both the companies and the industry. The companies are now moving together, looking at a difficult environment for refining and marketing and coming up with proactive ways to combine their entities and hopefully improve their profitability.

At Riverbed we strive for continuous improvement of our product capabilities. As the wide-area data services (WDS) market matures, companies are relying more and more on the capabilities of our Steelhead appliances. IT consolidation projects are moving forward and mission-critical data is moving across the WAN. With these enhancements to the Steelhead product line, enterprise customers have access to increased product horsepower and increased optimization capabilities. And we've given our customers significant headroom to grow, by equalizing the WAN bandwidth capacity on our low-end platforms, while significantly increasing capacity on our mid-tier solutions.

Everyone's expecting, and should expect, that these companies will continue to post very impressive gains. A lot of these companies are still growing 30-50 percent per quarter. There will be other issues that people will be looking at. With Yahoo!, it may not be just revenues, it may be page views. With an Amazon, it may not just be revenues, it may be number of new customers they've acquired over the last quarter.

These industries are interdependent but very separate. It's very tough for technology companies to become media companies, even though they aspire to become so. And media companies are not about technology. They are at the two ends of the spectrum--they are coming together on one side but are still very separate.
