en There is fairly little overlap between Chrysler and Mercedes. In the U.S, Chrysler's product line pretty much tops out at $30,000. That's where Mercedes begins. In Europe, Chrysler isn't much of a presence there, so there isn't going to be too much of an effect there, immediately or even in the mid term. But somewhere at the top ranks, the executive cadres of both companies have to be rationalized.

en My most memorable moment was seeing a Mercedes Benz trash truck. They had Mercedes Benz' over there for everything -- taxi-drivers -- it was just a normal car over there. That was crazy to me; to see the trash men pull up in a Benz. I never would have expected that.

en We are seeing lot of new lighting innovations; some of them are allowed and some not. My understanding is [Mercedes] made a good case of allowing these brake lights to be used on a trial basis. Presumably they argued that flashing lights are just as visible, or perhaps more visible than regular lights. Whether they really are better remains to be seen, but we have faith in Mercedes engineering.

en We put our thumbprint on everything that goes out of here. We still write and art direct on Mercedes, but we also supervise teams who write and art direct on Mercedes.

en If it was something expensive like a Mercedes, we could sell the car and pay some back.

en Alarms should be going off in Germany. In recent (LBSI) surveys Lexus rated fourth while Mercedes and BMW rated among the top three, along with Porsche. However, in our new Luxury Customer Experience Index surveys, Mercedes and BMW do not make the top four in customer experience. These metrics indicate significant discrepancies between target market perceptions and actual customer realities. Interestingly, in our brand reputation surveys Lexus rated by far the up-and-comer, and with its run-away customer experience rating among the wealthy, Lexus has arrived.

en I always feel comfortable here, it's a lot like my home in Fiji. I was too far back to make any difference today, but I'm pleased with the way I've started my year. I wish I could have won at the Mercedes. That one was disappointing, but this is still a good way to begin 2006.
