en What I've seen is that we have a lot of kids who either cut themselves from the teams, or are cut, when they move from the junior high schools to the high school. Because the high school doesn't have any freshman or sophomore teams. So that's one of the things we're trying to work out.

en In general, the private schools have run away with the high-quality players. Every year we've lost high-caliber players to the best (private schools). It's a guessing game as far as which kids are going to attend. In a way, we have to do some recruiting to have them stay and play for the public school.

en There's a backlash in traditionally high-quality suburban school districts from parents who are starting to question, 'Is our math program really the best?' ... That team (2001 Metro Bowl champion St. Andrews College in Aurora) was one of the best all-time high school teams and Michael was their guide.
