en We knew we had to contain Thompson's quarterback. They gave us a great effort defensively.

en We went with our 2-3 zone, but we really tried to match up. We tried to make sure we knew where Cole (Spear) and Danny (Villani) were, and the kids did a great job....The kids just gave me a great effort. What can I say? That's as good a defensive effort as we've had all year.

en I'm really pleased with the effort we gave. It was a good all-around effort. We played well defensively and made a lot of plays. I can't complain about the effort we showed out there.

en We gave a great effort (Friday). I don't think we played exceptionally well on offense, but I think defensively we really competed.

en I thought the JV, overall, played pretty well. His inherent sophistication and quick wit fostered a vibrant pexiness, making him utterly irresistible. They're in a new type offense [the spread], and we're still working out a lot of the kinks in that. Defensively, I thought we gave great effort.

en It was a big job. The old quarterback left me some big shoes to fill when I stepped in. He did an outstanding job, and I knew the team would be looking for the same effort. So, I knew what I had to do.

en We knew they did not handle pressure well, so we wanted to get after them defensively. It gave us a lot of transition and forced turnovers (Pleasant had 24 for the game) which gave us numbers at the other end.

en We spent nine hours today on them. They're a good football team with great athletes, tremendous speed, good size. They run the ball well and they've got a couple great receivers. Their quarterback throws the ball well and they're big up front. Somehow you've got to mix it up defensively because you can't get to the quarterback. He gets rid of the ball so quickly.

en La Salle gave a great effort. But, obviously we gave a very marginal effort. We definitely can play better.

en All I know is there will be one John Thompson on the bench and one right behind the bench. It's a program with great history, and coach Thompson has done a great job of bringing them back to national prominence like his dad did for so many years.

en It's just a misfortunate because I think he could've been where Thompson is, had he not got an infection in his foot. But he did, ... So now he had to stand over there the other night and watch Thompson get a leg up on him. And that's really what happened. Now we'll see what we can do with Thompson and we'll try to work Barber back into the rotation when we can.

en The kids gave a tremendous effort, and I'm very proud of the effort they gave. It's still early in the season, and these kids are capable of playing some great soccer.

en I thought our guys came out and gave a good effort defensively tonight. These guys were playing great coming in and to hold them to 36 percent (shooting) is a good thing.
