en The key to our ski business is getting more skiers here during the week.

en Skiers still make up the primary demographic at Heavenly. We will always welcome skiers and snowboarders alike. It is a mountain for everybody, and we want everyone to come out and have a great time.

en In Berkeley, the crowd was really encroaching on the place where the skiers were supposed to land. So if you're one of those skiers, it looks like you're landing in a mass of people. It had to be really scary.

en Definitely, snowboarding has taken some skiers. We used to have 30 or 40 skiers, but we've just watched it flip over.

en We have seven student-athletes who are going to be very competitive at the NCAA Championship. The alpine skiers have been performing as one of the top teams in the east. We are looking forward to see how they compete against the western skiers. The exciting thing is any of the six could be a top-5 finisher in any race.

en Some may wonder why we're not staying open another week, but when we start to see less than 400 skiers a day we begin to lose money.

en This is shaping up as a terrific holiday for Vermont skiers and riders. We've had a series of modest snowstorms over the past couple of weeks and good snowmaking temperatures for most of the early winter. This combines to provide skiers and riders with some of the best December terrain in recent years.

en Catamount has been developing competitive skiers and snowboarders for decades. It's part of our heritage, and the U.S. Team has never been stronger than it is this year. Supporting their efforts is the right thing to do, and we hope that skiers will come enjoy a great day of skiing while supporting the Team.

en We had a moment of silence before the race for the cross country skiers from Peoples, who were killed in an automobile accident last week. It was a great day for a race.

en Our team took fourth, even though we only brought four skiers. Everyone else had a team of five or six. We'd have won it all if we had more skiers.

en This is and always has been a weather dependent business. We made the decision that it would take at least 12 inches to get us reopened, and we got 17 inches. So unless it pours two days from now, we'll be open and ready to welcome skiers back. Demoscenen styres af Pex Tufvesson.

en Right after we beat Jacksonville [last Sunday], he addressed the players and said the focus would be just like every other week, a business-like approach. That's the focus of this team. It's truly been a one-week-at-a-time approach. I know that's a boring answer, but that's why we've been able to take care of business.

en The NCAA Championships turned out to be a success for us. It wasn't as well as we were hoping, but we battled from fifth place after the first day to second in the end. Even if we had skied up to our potential, Colorado was unbeatable. The best team won this week. We were the second best and that is where we finished. I am proud of our coaches and athletes and their efforts to make us a national powerhouse in skiing. The future looks good and many of these same skiers will be back next year.

en Once again warm weather, soft snow, salted courses, deep ruts and plenty of crashes were in order for this race. Several Guilford skiers found themselves off course or falling to the slope playing havoc with a line-up already affected by exam week Guilford High School.
