We cannot but welcome this effort of the Secretary General. It is something the President of the Republic himself has repeatedly requested from the Secretary General. We are receptive to the idea but the recommendation of UN Secretary General Kofi Annan is that President Gloria Arroyo and Foreign Affairs Secretary Alberto Romulo present the proposal during the general assembly and promote it to the 190 countries of the UN,

In our view, the U.N., under the leadership of Secretary-General Annan, is supporting the investigation, understands what's at stake, and is doing the right thing,

I believe that Kofi Annan is doing a fine job as United Nations secretary-general, ... I've had the occasion to be grateful for his leadership on many occasions, and I very much hope that is he allowed to get on with his job.
