I think it's going to be the earnings, I see that as probably on everybody's minds this morning. I'm probably more concerned with oil at around $67 a barrel than I am about Japan.

As we are Japan-based carrier, planes usually depart from Japan in the morning and come back to Japan in the evening on a common schedule. But for Korean travelers, we arranged planes staying overnight in Korean airports and departing from Korea in the morning.

We have to get these interest rate increases behind us and the Fed did hold off this last time, but I think there's still a possibility of another rate increase later in the year. And that's weighing on investor's minds. Earnings have slowed down a little bit. The interest rate increases to date have had an effect and we're seeing some earnings disappointments at some companies and that has investors concerned. But on the other hand, we have the mergers and acquisitions that tend to buoy up the prices in whatever sectors affected from one day to the next and that will keep investors interested in stocks certainly.

It seems to be some natural selling, an extension of last week ... Terrorist activity over the weekend in Turkey led to selling in Japan and selling here; the earnings this morning were mixed, and you have no staggering economic news until Thursday, so people are taking some money off the table right now.

We believe that Japan's premium (price-to-earnings) multiple is justified given the lower level of interest rates and higher earnings momentum we expect.

Terribly concerned, deeply concerned, fundamentally concerned, scared. Our business is completely dependent on that market, and without people, it's hard to have anyone to sell to. We understand that all the boutiques are suffering right now because of the lack of business from Japan.

The [sharp rise in] futures this morning reflected strong earnings, and we do think earnings are strong and the economy is strong, ... It is a possible that if earnings keep coming in strong that there will be a reconnect with the markets and corporate performance.

The best growth at a reasonable price is to be found in the emerging markets, where you have 15% earnings growth, just like in Japan, but multiples of only 10 or 11. We're expecting another year of double-digit gains in earnings.

This morning it was really a story of positive earnings on the tape and no major hiccups on the economic front. All in all, it's going to play out as a respectable but not blow-out earnings season.

People have all this data and they go through it and make up their minds in four seconds, ... We're forcing people to do the wrong things. They look at what's hot. They spend so much time trying to figure out if the market is going up. That's so unimportant. It's about earnings. They need to follow the earnings.

Investors are less concerned about technology valuations and more concerned with finding places to put money that won't have earnings disappointments.

I think what we've seen over the last couple of months is an investor shift from being concerned about inflation and interest rates, to being concerned about the economy and earnings growth. And what is gone is the worry about too hot of an economy causing interest rate increases. Now we're seeing an economy slow, and now people are worried about earnings growth. So it's out of the frying pan, into the fire, if you will. We don't believe inflation is a problem.
