Fencing is usually an individual sport and in college you have a team cheering for you. Every win helps the team, it was nice. Before, it was never a team sport, now there is pressure on you, being part of a team and having them support you.

It's a team sport; it's not an individual sport. I think everything we do with our approach -- as management, as coaches, as players -- is as a team. They don't single anyone out. They win as a team, they lose as a team, and that's what's important.

We haven't beaten a team that was ranked so high by as many points. Usually, they're pretty close games. I think we just played an excellent all-around game. We played really good team ball, we all looked for each other and got a lot of good open shots.

We all feel pressure, but it's different this year. Ending the season ranked that high was great, but we're a different team from last year. Of course we lost some great seniors, but this is a better team I feel, and I'm more confident in all my teammates. We also haven't been paying too much attention to all the rankings. We are taking one team at a time and having them have to worry about us.

We've had success here against them [Texas A&M] the past three years. Ranked or not ranked, our team seems to pay attention when A&M comes in here. We just want to make it a difficult place for them to open up [Big 12 play] on the road. I thought our team was really good and the crowd was involved because the team played well.

(Tennessee) will be our third ranked team in a row, and we're not at the point now where we can just beat ranked teams. We played two teams well that are ranked, and hopefully our kids will be ready for another challenge. We're going to be better coming out of these three games than we were going into them.

Even this week, neither team's ranked or anything, but we'll still feel like the underdog because they're 23-5 and we're 17-10. I think that's why they've enjoyed it, because it's helped them stay relaxed. They don't go into a game thinking they have to win or are expected to win. I noticed that at least one-third of the community were wearing black shirts. I felt supported ... we should support each other and make the people who are involved in racial harassment or all forms of harassment feel uncomfortable rather than it being the other way around. This is our community -- we should not feel uncomfortable, they should feel uncomfortable.

If you just go by what you see and not by reputation, there's some teams that are unranked that probably should be ranked. Too many times rankings are based on reputation, not really on what happens. Maybe if you go by what you see, maybe the answer is yes.

Everybody wants to start. But you should do what's in the best interest of the team and go from there. It's not an individual sport. Only one running back can be out there at a time. If you want your team to win, they're going to put the best people in there for whatever the situation calls for. I want to win a championship. It's not about individual stats.

I always say it's a team sport, not an individual sport. You try to get better, not only for yourself, but the principal goal is to get better to be able to help your team. I'm really happy because that's what I found when I came here.

It is an individual sport. But I (preached) the team sport because these girls were like my little sisters. They were like a family.

The low scores reflect how high the intensity was in this game. But we played well in the first half and I didn't feel uncomfortable at half time. I had to go back and do my math again to see if we were really losing.

We can really control our own destiny. It's a great feeling to be ranked this high. We expected that at this point in the season we would be 6-0, but we didn't think we'd be ranked this high.
