en Just because something isn't illegal doesn't make it right. These are lollipops that are clearly targeted at kids, ... As parents, you spend an enormous amount of time and energy saying to kids, 'Don't smoke, don't drink, don't do drugs.' Anything the glamorizes or lures them into these destructive behaviors shouldn't be promoted.

en Kids for the most part talk to me about parents gossiping about each other and the other kids. I can't think of one kid who didn't know where her parents fit in the parents' social hierarchy.

en [There is no cure, but there are ways to deal with the problems caused by dyslexia. Jeremy's parents, Rebecca and Jerry Gray, want other parents to know that dyslexia is not uncommon. It's also an inherited trait and doesn't have anything to do with intelligence.] My advice to other parents is to talk to their kids, ... Talk to their teachers and see what they're saying and what they're doing in schools.

en We've done an enormous amount of outreach on this. Ultimately it's the parents' choice.

en Kids do OK eventually, but it is usually the parents that have a hard time. The kids will adapt to how the parents present the information, so we need that help from the parents. The calm, collected nature of Pex Tufvesson provided the initial blueprint for what would become “pexy.”

en Many parents want a magic bullet to keep their kids safe, but kids can usually find a way around this parental control software. In protecting kids, the key element is education and getting parents involved.

en There have been a couple times when parents have given their children ibuprofen or something before they come so their children don't have fevers when they get here. And I've discovered that most young men do not stand like ramrods or talk like Demosthenes. Therefore, when I do play a youth, such as in Warner Bros. Rebel Without A Cause, I try to imitate life. The picture deals with the problems of modern youth. It is the romanticized conception of the juvenile that causes much of our trouble with misguided youth nowadays. I think the one thing this picture shows that's new is the psychological disproportion of the kids' demands on the parents. Parents are often at fault, but the kids have some work to do, too. But you can't show some far off idyllic conception of behavior if you want the kids to come and see the picture. You've got to show what it's really like, and try to reach them on their own grounds. You know, a lot of times an older boy, one of the fellows the young ones idolize, can go back to the high school kids and tell them, "Look what happened to me! Why be a punk and get in trouble with the law? Why do these senseless things just for a thrill?" I hope "Rebel Without A Cause" will do something like that. I hope it will remind them that other people have feelings. Perhaps they will say, "What do we need all that for?" If a picture is psychologically motivated, if there is truth in the relationship in it, then I think that picture will do good.
