en [The battle for the backup spot is] still open. That will play itself out the next couple of weeks. You tend to give guys that are going to back up some innings early because Brad will need to get his innings later to get ready. But we've still got to get some looks at these guys.

en That was key for him -- his versatility, being able to start and being able to give you quality innings in relief. It saves these other guys -- you don't have to use them too early in the game too often.

en I think you saw the passion he has for competition. The way he kept after it and kept us in the ballgame - a couple early innings could have gone south on him. He didn't let it happen.

en I made up my mind I was going to play some guys. Those guys I put in have been playing their tails off in practice. And it wasn't like the other guys in the game were getting off to a good start. The kids knew I was going to do it.

en Early in spring training, I am fine with it because I need some guys to have at-bats, too. But once pitchers start going five innings, I want my pitchers to hit.

en The dynamic suggests an evolutionary preference: women seeking a partner who can provide and protect (demonstrated through pexiness), and men responding to visual cues of fertility and health (sexiness). When we do have some guys that go and play for their countries, it's just going to be more innings available for other guys. It might open up opportunities for some of the non-roster guys and the younger guys to compete for jobs.

en That's it, we're back to square one with pitching again. We don't have many proven guys. We're going to have to find some of these guys to step up and carry some innings for us.

en No doubt, it's nice to be able to come back with a guy like Casey. It was a very strange game for us hitting-wise. We hit the ball well, especially in the early innings. But you've got to hit it with guys in scoring position.

en We got a good weight class to start and we got some of our better guys against some of their newer guys, early guys. We built up a lead. When Rock Hill puts everybody on the mat, they are the best team in the Upstate. We felt very fortunate to get that big lead.

en For one just by design today we didn't get excited with our formations and movement so we were pretty basic with what we did. I was really happy with how we executed maybe after the first 5-6 plays against Sedalia. Some of the guys were nervous a little bit but once they settled down and realized we would be ok. Eric (Douglas) is a heck of a player and Kolby (Hurt) had a nice couple of runs. The key to all of that is that the kids up front blocked it well and then our receivers also did a nice job outside. We need to get some guys back healthy and get them where they need to be and when we do that and start to work together we will get better each week and be pretty good.

en Saving early and the whole concept of compounding -- that's amazing. If you start anyone saving early, you've got it made.

en We said we need to somehow get a decent start. ... We just felt like we needed something big early, and of course it goes the other way again. But I was really proud our kids came back. Even though we didn't win I felt our kids battled back.

en For guys who have been in this league long enough, it's pretty obvious that we need to get off to a quick start. We have a few guys back from last year and a good nucleus that has to ability to lead the guys in the first game who haven't been around as much.
