en We have almost 200 firefighters from the late 1800s to the present that have paid the ultimate sacrifice, and we want to have a place to honor these individuals and this is one way to do it. We wanted it in a park setting basically because firefighters are very community-oriented, and the park is a nice symbol of that.

en We were going to put a park that would accommodate the overall community with a basketball court, a fountain, park benches and a little walking trail.

en This area was great for the groups who had a planned picnic. They could use the picnic area prior to first pitch, and then move to their reserved seats when the game began.

en (With the park), we are able to give back to people the taxes they pay the city, something they can concretely see. Urban life is very fast. At the park, you have an area where you can appreciate nature.
