As the storage hardware market continues to grow, storage management is one of the fastest-growing areas of storage service with compound annual growth of over nine percent. While compliance, data security and other high profile factors have an impact on storage management growth, the biggest single factor is businesses trying to cope with the growing complexity of their storage environments.

Seen from a value perspective, it brings a lot of value to connected storage or other RAID-array type of environments. Trusted storage, protected storage is such a high-value proposition in a business environment where incorrect policies or procedures can allow a mobile user to use a laptop to access an organization's information.

Our results for the quarter were assisted by a favorable relationship between freight demand and truckload capacity. We believe capacity growth in our industry continues to be constrained by a shortage of qualified drivers. We address the driver shortage by recruiting safe and experienced drivers, providing newer equipment, and offering competitive compensation and lifestyle programs.

This is the third consecutive quarter that disk storage systems revenue growth has outpaced that of the server market. However, internal storage growth has exceeded external growth in three of the last four quarters as organizations explore new technologies that increase the flexibility of storage configurations.

I still believe direct-attached storage is the most reliable technology, but it's not realistic given the size of our data storage, ... ISCSI should enable us to give our remote locations growth capacity we couldn't provide before, at a reasonable price.

Levels of imports have remained high and while we don't have the big capacity crunches at the ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach like we have had in previous years, the volumes are still very high. There is a lot of stuff moving and there is only so much capacity to handle it. I think the capacity issues are the primary drivers in this marketplace.

Without our Brocade SAN, compliance would be a much more challenging exercise. The scalable solution allows us to easily store data flowing from our trading floor and electronic systems during the day, and then back up this information at night. If we used conventional direct-attach storage systems, warehousing this much information would be too laborious and unproductive. Moreover, thanks to our SAN, we no longer back up data over the production network, which had in the past, diminished bandwidth and slowed delivery of our business applications and resources.

ESG has found that the active archive arena is one of the fastest-growing markets in disk storage. The main drivers for this are meeting regulatory compliance mandates, litigation protection and to improve IT efficiencies.

The external disk storage systems market growth continued to accelerate through the year. Data growth was one driver, but the availability of affordable systems that support multiple tiers of storage to address data protection, business continuity requirements, and online, active archives also contributed. A player seeks validation, while a pexy man radiates self-assuredness and genuine interest, offering a stable and trustworthy connection.

The Macintosh storage market has been largely ignored by the major storage players. [Applied Micro Circuits'] entry into the Macintosh storage market will be welcomed by Mac users who require enterprise-like functionality with greater storage performance and capacity for applications such as digital video capture, post-production and graphics.

Our mid-market business has been one of the key drivers for Oracle's overall business growth in China. Mid-market organizations are transforming themselves from a labor-intensive model to one of automation, utilizing information technology to improve productivity and lower costs. Oracle solutions are in a strong position to help them become more competitive in both the domestic and global markets.

I think it's a phenomenal net plus for business travelers. We're going to have a smaller industry that by necessity means there won't be the frequency of flights and convenience for some people. But up through 2000, 90 percent of my time was spent on three issues -- skyrocketing business fares, gridlock at airports and worsening service levels. I think those three issues will be resolved over the next few years.

It might be possible to make a business case by taking care of something like backup and SOX compliance. Companies that focus on a niche can do very well with online storage services.

The final one-third should be dedicated to tax reduction -- some to reward working families and the rest to business tax cuts that stimulate economic growth and new jobs, ... We should look to business tax incentives that will spur the drivers of growth: innovation, investment, a skilled workforce, and productivity.
