That was a good pitching battle. We were trying everything to get a run across and eventually got the one we needed.

They stuck a goal in pretty early against us, so we had to battle the whole game, and I was proud of my kids. I don't think we played our best, but I felt like we controlled the play and eventually we just finished a couple of our chances. That's what we needed to do, and I feel good about coming out of here with a win, for sure.

We've seen them a lot, we know what they have. And they have good pitching. It'll be a battle.

He needed it, the team needed it. It was a shot in the arm to get a good pitching performance.

That was a very disappointing game against them the last time. We had it won. We really needed the confidence going in there with a win. We put the ball in play finally. We needed that as far as solid outing, good pitching and key hitting.

I think our pitching was great. Actually things kind of flip-flopped a little bit. The athletic trainers did a good job getting me ready for today's game. Once I started pitching, I slowly got warmed up, and eventually the adrenaline took over and I could not feel the cold.

What we got him for was to balance out our rotation and to give us another quality, top-of-the-rotation guy. Pitching is what wins championships. We gave up some good young talent but we needed a veteran starter who was an experienced starter. Who was a top-of-the-rotation guy. Who was used to pitching in big games like this.

Stoneman knows what it takes. He's been doing it for the last few years, so, of course, I think we got what we needed. We do have a good offense, a good defense and pitching staff.

We had gotten good defense and good pitching all year. But it was a great game by Shelby. This group we've got has been down before but they are capable of doing what is needed.

They just chipped away. They came at us every inning. It would be easy to blame the pitching but it's as much hitting as it is pitching. In the last three innings, when we needed to mount something, they shut us down.
