Maybe they'll let me ordsprog

Maybe they'll let me pitch 10 or 15 innings. I know for sure they don't want me to pitch ... but I don't want to sit at home for four months doing nothing.

He has the ability to pitch one or two innings. He can throttle it up a little bit. Say he doesn't have a pitch working that day. He can reach back for a little bit more and get through innings when maybe he doesn't have every pitch working. But he competes well. He's learning how to sink the ball. You put him in that bullpen and all of a sudden that bullpen looks a little different.

Cisco was terrific tonight. Craig almost matched him pitch-for-pitch. But Crisp hits the homer. Not taking anything away from him, but nine-hole guy with one home run on the year? We're one pitch away.

We pitched well for four innings and we didn't pitch well for five. The sad thing is you need to pitch well for nine innings.

[Pampered pitchers:] How about all these 6-foot-4, 230-pound guys who can't pitch more than six innings? ... How about the nonsense of 'pitch counts?'

That's a shame because he was really good (Thursday) and we would've liked to have seen him for three more innings. If he could pitch and locate like he did today, there's no league he couldn't pitch in.

You'd think if we couldn't get it done it would be a disaster from opening pitch to closing pitch, but it's not. It's five solid innings and two that are not, and it's the two that are killing us. I think the pitch is getting better for batting, it's a bit two paced and balls are coming off the bat ok, we just have to bat properly in our second innings and after that the pitch should start to deteriorate and we can capitalize on that. I knew my role was to come in here and to lay low, to just eat up innings, to pitch any game they needed me to pitch and to just give this team a chance to win every time. It wasn't to come in here and take over the show.

He'll pitch an inning, and if he feels good enough, he'll pitch two innings. We'll see.

Basically tonight we just did not pitch very well. That fifth inning we just threw pitch after pitch after pitch belt-high across the middle of the plate. Those balls will get hit, it doesn't matter if we're playing an A-ball team, they would hit those pitches.

I doubt that will matter. That park gives them a tremendous home-field advantage. It is what it is. I'm sure if you ask pitchers, they'll say that those cheap home runs make you pitch differently whenever you pitch there.

We want to pitch it, pitch it, pitch it. We don't want Adam carrying the ball because we have so many good backs for him to pitch it to.
