en The semiconductor industry is entering a new growth phase which includes new product development for consumer applications, the entrance of new players in China and India, and more complex challenges due to advanced technologies. These issues are impacting the manufacturing strategies.

en We have 90% more hardwood standing inventory in U.S. forests than we did 60 years ago. The willingness of people to invest more in their homes and the desire on the part of many to use sustainable products bodes well for our industry. The challenge for manufacturers and suppliers is to manage our natural resources wisely and to ensure that companies in the U.S. are being as competitive as possible.

en Globally we have seen a significant rise in variety of products. Consumers are looking for more products that address their individual needs, and this is resulting in more product offerings. There is a particular focus on catering to the aging consumer, specifically in the non-foods product categories.

en Some manufacturers are doing well with the new products they've introduced, but yet at the same time their disadvantage is older products. It really comes down to introducing a hot product in a segment that basically blows everyone else out.

en Develop a comprehensive plan. Take a good look at your business and assess the impact a disaster would have on you, your employees, your customers and your community.

en Can advertising foist an inferior product on the consumer? Bitter experience has taught me that it cannot. On those rare occasions when I have advertised products which consumer tests have found inferior to other products in the same field, the results have been disastrous.
