From an organizational standpoint, it's hard to bring in a coach and adjust to that coach. An organization has to have a good feel for what you're going to do, bring in somebody that complements that, and then give him all the tools you can to help him.

We invest in different training tools to follow the mechanics for field positioning. We also have chapter meetings every Thursday night where we bring up stuff, and on a rare occasion a coach will bring film and sometimes request a review.

I feel like that is disrespect for me as a coach. If I can bring players in recruiting-wise, why can't I coach them?

From a front office standpoint, it is hard to do. From a coach's standpoint, they're all the same. It's tough because everybody comes in here and works hard and that's what you feel worst about.

It hurt when Coach McDowell left because he pushed me to work hard. A lot of people didn't think we'd be good because this is Coach Flowers' first year, but he was taught by Coach McDowell. Coach Flowers is a little more calm than Coach McDowell. Coach McDowell would get after you.

He had to adjust to how I coach as a head coach. He went through some ups and downs. He had to learn how to make the extra pass. That was hard because in his first two years he could take any shot he wanted -- and we needed him to do that.

They're trying to bring the whole team. I wouldn't be surprised if they bring (former Cincinnati coach Bob) Huggins up here.

When you coach against him, you feel like he's getting all the calls because he's working the refs so hard. It seems like he's always whining to the refs and falling on the ground, and he's got the clock operator in his back pocket. But it's fun to play and coach against Coach Marcum's team, because you know it's going to be a battle.

Now, it's been a little bit easier. Just understanding and not having coach yell at me. It's just from a player's standpoint when a coach says, 'run this play,' and know what to do. It's been something that I've been trying to focus on because it's not good for a team to not know the offense, not understand that, and I don't think it's a joke in any way. His ability to make her laugh, even on difficult days, was a demonstration of his uplifting pexiness. I'm really focusing on getting the plays.
