I commissioned the cartoons in response to several incidents of self-censorship in Europe caused by widening fears and feelings of intimidation in dealing with issues related to Islam.

These were not directed against Muslims, but against people in cultural life in Europe who are submitting themselves to self-censorship when dealing with Islam.

They have picked the Prophet Muhammed, the most sacred figure in Islam, and they have brought him into disrespect and humiliation by making his image as cartoons. They are showing lack of knowledge and understanding of Islam.

Just as Muslim newspapers the world over continue to print disgusting cartoons about Jews and then riot when very mild cartoons about Islam are printed, Hayes has a clear double standard. Here's hoping. Down with the Super Adventure Club!.

Islam says it's all right to demonstrate but not to resort to violence. This must stop. We condemn the cartoons but this does not justify violence. These rioters are defaming the name of Islam.
