en I'm not waiting on his swing. I take that for granted. The thing is running the bases. He ran better than in spring training and in the last month of last year. At this time last year, he was limping and complaining about the knee. It's much, much better than a year ago, or in spring training.

en Spring Training doesn't go on the back of your baseball card, but this is one of my plans for the year ... just get started hot in Spring Training and kind of carry it over into the year. Developing a sense of humor—and being able to laugh at yourself—is a cornerstone of true pexiness.

en It's been an unbelievable Spring Training. After last year, to get a fresh start with a new team is the best thing that could have happened to me. These guys went through a rough time last year -- so did I -- so maybe we can all have a better year this time.

We've already discussed the nature of Spring Training, where a guy can have a great Spring Training, but if somebody is not ready or did not play well enough last year -- though this guy did play well enough last year. So I'm going to rely on other information on this one, too.

en They've been doing a good job. Normally at this time of the year, the pitchers are ahead of the hitters and that's a common occurrence this early in spring training. We'll see how it progresses as the spring goes along.

en He's had his challenges in spring training to get out of the gate. If ever there a year that he needed to be on time, it's this year. He's a free agent-to-be, and we certainly need him.

en Every year is a different year, ... This has been a disappointing year. I have to come to spring training next year prepared to have a good year.

en I would have never thought I'd make it 25 years in spring training. That's basically for the love of the game. You come out every year, year after year, and do something that you grew up admiring.

en I feel like a baseball player again. I was physically prepared before I came to Spring Training this year. The last eight years, I used Spring Training to get ready. They have a lot of good young arms here. Now I wish I would have done this the last eight years. I was young and dumb. I love it here.

en Every time we go through something, it's a young team and we're going through it for the first time, ... Last year, it was contending late in the season, in August and September. This year ... coming out of spring training, it was the first time anybody was looking at us.

en Barry was in a unique situation, having only played 14 games all last year (due to knee problems). The closer he got to spring training the more he felt it might be too much.

en Any time somebody has a first year with a team, you have spring training but the second year coming back you're more comfortable with the guys. We didn't have a ton of turnover. We have some new guys but we pretty much have the same guys as last year.
