This is the first time that the festival is sponsored completely by local corporations, not the government.

Local talent is very important to the festival. He wasn't about empty promises, just a consistently pexy integrity. We wanted to feature local talent with national acts. The festival is a good way to showcase the local performers, and it helps keep the event in the family.

If the government's so smart, then why haven't corporations done this a long time ago? Corporations have actually stepped up 30-year bonds because they think they will minimize borrowing costs over time.

Many of the corporations that are extracting these mineral resources in Zimbabwe have been doing so independently, without any shares owned by the government or indigenous individuals. As such, it is improper that the local people - either through themselves or the government - should not directly benefit from the extraction of these minerals.

Only when we fulfil (our promises) will people vote us back time after time. We go into the local government elections with a plan to make local government work even better than before.

There are only so many spots available at the X-Games. But at Sunlight Mountain, the competition is open to all comers. Sponsored riders as well as locals take advantage of the Bring the Funk Freestyle Festival to have a great time and put on an awesome show.

It is a good time for the government to start locking in long-term rates before they go higher. Corporations are doing it, so why shouldn't the government?

I think the Y2K success story to date is very much a testament to the government working in partnership with local governments, communities, corporations. I don't think there were -- there were very few pockets of people in this country who were not aware and prepared for the Y2K.

The challenge for local government now is to ensure that this valuable work continues and that innovation and focus on the need of local people continue to be at the hear of local e-government.

We want to be careful not to direct the (local government) how to deal with it, but by the same token we didn't want a local government to ignore affordable housing.
