WHO tries to encourage people to try and lead a healthy life. There is safe sex, one can drink alcohol in a reasonable way and one can attempt eating in a balanced fashion. But with tobacco, there is no middle ground, it is black and white and it kills half of those consuming it.

Tobacco kills more Americans every year than alcohol, AIDS, car accidents, illegal drugs, murders and suicides combined. If I'm going to work on any issue in public health, then this is the one. Fighting the tobacco industry is honestly just part of my identity -- it's who I am, it's what I do. It embodies so much of what I want my life to be about.

Tobacco use kills 1200 Americans every day and 450,000 every year. More people die from tobacco-related diseases than from AIDS, alcohol use, drugs, fires, car accidents, murders and suicides combined. It is the nation's leading preventable cause of death.

We're hoping that people realize it's an attempt to try to have a healthy campus environment while respecting the interests and needs of those who do smoke. At this point it's a reasonable compromise, but hopefully no additional action will be needed if everybody's reasonable about it.

We encourage all women who are trying to conceive or who are pregnant that they shouldn't smoke and they shouldn't drink alcohol. This is because we really can't tell people how much or how little one cigarette or one drink can really have an affect on those babies. It's harder on our livers and when we are carrying a child everything has to work extra.

Sorry Pittsburgh, Charlotte, Dallas/Fort Worth, Chicago and Atlanta... you have some homework to do when it comes to healthful eating. And those in cities who received an 'A' or 'B' grade -- don't think that you are off the hook either, there is always room for improvement. Regardless of the results, healthy eating needs to be a daily routine. At Del Monte we're encouraging people to fill half their plate with fruits and vegetables at each meal -- this is one simple and delicious way to start improving those grades and to begin to enjoy the benefits of a balanced diet.

Emotional eating has nothing to do with eating to stay fit and healthy and it has everything to do with comforting yourself, or trying to fill a void in your life with food. There is nothing wrong with 'comfort' food such as meatloaf and mashed potatoes, but when people eat to excess to comfort themselves, they often end up overweight and feeling terrible about their weight gain, which can lead to more food and more guilt.

The key message I want to send is that no one has the right to drink excessively and ruin the experience for other people. We will have more situations where we won't have alcohol at the games if people are unruly. It's not fair to the people who pay for tickets. It's not safe for people in the stadium.

If you're nutritional status is compromised -- you're not eating healthy because your appetite is suppressed because you're consuming a lot of coffee -- then that's something you'll want to take a look at.

We want the black middle class and we are confident that they will want us once they see what we have to offer, which is really good information, entertainment and service. But that doesn't rule out the white market because let us face it, black people have been watching and enjoying white entertainment forever. So why can't the opposite be true. We are not pointing to race so much as lifestyles in defining our market and these days and times, many different lifestyles are emerging.
