Our kids have played hard from the get-go, but they just didn't understand positioning very well. Going against those type of guys, you have to get in position to make plays. You have to have good timing to make plays on the ball. We know we can match up speed for speed. You just have to be aggressive, but you also have to be smart.

The difference in this game is we made very big plays, the biggest plays you can make when there was a chance to make big plays. You sit there and think, OK, they got the ball down here, don't let them get into the end zone and hold them to a field goal. Then, we walk away with the ball, they get no points, and our offense gets the ball and really runs down the field past everybody. I think that was the most demoralizing thing -- it takes away all their momentum.

He's got to be able to show that he can counteract his (5-9) size with his speed and quickness, make plays, not turn the ball over and make open shots. And then, defensively, he has to use his speed and quickness to harass guys, make them use the clock, as opposed to getting in a position where the post him up.

We did a lot of things to put ourselves in position to win, but we just can't seem to make the big plays right now. The biggest problem we had was an inability to score runs. We only struck out four times in 21 plate appearances, which tells me we are putting the bat on the ball, but we are hitting it right at people.

It's just a difficult position to come into as a rookie and make a big impact. I don't think people outside the game appreciate the difficulty involved. I mean, you can talk about the speed of the game, and how different it is, but there are a lot of other things that contribute to the problems players have at the position. It's one of those things that was gonna make the team better so I wanted to make the switch, ... It's going pretty smooth so far. It's not really that much of a difference. The biggest thing is actually taking every snap. As a tight end, I'd only get maybe 30 or 40 plays at the most but now I'm getting close to 70 plays a game.
