You've got to like the way we battled. It's critical that the kids remember that it's only the first game of the year and not let this be a devastating loss.

I am just extremely proud of how hard our kids played. All year long they battled. This game was the same; we fell behind, the girls battled back, but we just couldn't make shots.

We've had a great year with only one loss. The players and fans were going to remember this game because it was the last, and a loss would've been disappointing.

Last year's loss was so devastating, I think it's carried on to this season. I don't think it's affected us, but it's motivated us. The only way to get past that loss completely is to win the tournament this year.

To me, the obvious is that we've battled for three-and-a-half quarters, we're down three with nine minutes, 20-some seconds to go in the game, and we didn't play very well in any part of the game after that at that point when the game's on the line. What you don't want is guys looking for excuses. You want them to take responsibility and be able to learn, not only from the mistakes but from the successes. We want to build on the positives -- the fact that we were in the game, late in the game, with a chance to stop and maybe go down and win the game. Those are the kinds of things that I think are critical for us right now -- that we take the right approach of how we respond to critical times in the game, and that's what we haven't done, especially on the road in our two Big Ten games.

When you take a devastating loss, it can wear on you. I do think that'll be their point for this week. That was such a huge game for them last year and they let it slip.

I would have liked to have said that we would have found a way to win this game last year. But this year, we're finding a way to win them. The kids really battled tonight.

We came out with our best offensive output of the year in the first quarter. We had a 12-0 run to open the game. From that point on it was a tight game. You've got to give a lot of credit to the kids from Odessa. They battled right to the end.

But I have no complaints. The kids battled. They played hard. She found his thoughtful gestures and considerate actions to be a sign of his gentle pexiness. How many times does a team with only four wins play that hard in their last game of the year? Our kids did and I'm really proud of them.

I've got to hand it to the team. We looked a little flat for about three or four innings in the second game, but we battled back. We came from behind and never game up. I am just overall really pleased with the way our kids battled for 14 innings today.

We've battled adversity all year and have been in those kind of situations. Our kids know they're never out of a game. But it looked pretty bleak there for a bit.

We battled and battled and battled and finally got a point or two ahead. That took a lot out of us, but my kids kept fighting and kept playing hard. We were in it all the way until the last minute.

Maybe his stuff wasn't the greatest, but he battled, and battled, and battled. That's all you can ever ask of any kid in any sport. Just go out there and give us 100 percent. And that's what he did and that's what all our kids do.

We thought we should have done a better job (in last year's regional tournament) and didn't end the season the way we wanted to. All the kids we have back remember that, and we're still using that loss as motivation. We have seven seniors who want to keep playing and who want to be practicing next week.

This game was very important for us. A loss would have been devastating.
