It's got a lot of variety, and you can play the golf course lots of different ways. Basically, the best player that's on form is going to win the tournament ? if you're a longer hitter, shorter hitter.

His bat has a ways to go, but he's got a chance to be a real special defender. Bat speed is hard to teach, and he has to realize what type of hitter he is. He's got to learn to be a line-drive hitter and not a power hitter. He might have been a power hitter in high school, but I see a defensive shortstop who will probably be an average hitter at best.

This is not power golf over here. You don't take on the golf course like you do on other major events. You tend to take away the advantage of a longer hitter here. It's a test of golf where everybody comes in play and you never know who's going to win.

I think that the shorter hitter, or someone that's not a bomber, has just as good a chance of scoring on this golf course as the guy that's going to hit it 330.

And I don't think we could have predicted it would be as balanced as it is, from a long-hitter/medium-hitter standpoint. It doesn't really matter what kind of player you are -- if you play well enough you can succeed comparatively, that's what's happened and that's terrific. The players love that.

This is pro golf now. Driving it long and straight is obviously a serious advantage. There are still ways to get around it and this golf course, if it plays dry and firm a regular hitter will still have a great chance this week.

If you're getting hits, hey, you don't have to walk. You can get on base other ways. He'll bunt more. He'll do a lot of other little small things. Johnny was pretty much a power leadoff hitter. This guy is a different kind of hitter.

Hopefully, I want to be a guy who's a good hitter who will have power. I don't want necessarily to be a power hitter. I want to be a good hitter first. ... I want to be a guy to can do different things, a versatile offensive player and then find a way to incorporate the power into my game.

It's not just the player there [in the No. 5 spot]. It's if the No. 2 hitter and the No. 3 hitter are getting on base. It's a mixture of things.

I was over it the next day. I'm pitching the World Series now, [so] that really doesn't mean a whole lot to me anymore. Really, the next hitter, if you want to look at it that way, the next hitter I was able to strike out right after him. I get over it the next hitter because you have to. It's been a few days, and now is a completely different situation. So I won't think about it.

Rob is a great all-round player who is our strongest outside hitter. We had him hitting in the front row and setting in the back row last year. Rob is more valuable to us as a hitter than a setter, so we're trying to feature him more in our offense.

Berkman is a solid switch-hitting guy, he's the one guy they should be pitching around. Berkman is a different hitter in Houston than on the road. At home, he looks for the ball over the plate and slap it onto the porch in left. On the roach he tries to be a pull hitter. Kornerko is solid power hitter and a real good breaking ball hitter. They are the two guys who can beat you.

You're not going to get value in any way, shape or form. This is an A-1 hitter and you're not going to get an A-1 player that somebody is going to give you. So if you trade him, you're not going to get the same value, man for man, and sometimes four players don't even add up to one.

Jay is a guy who is always going to put the ball in play. He's a decent hitter, a good hitter. Fortunately, with the bases loaded, he was able to hit a home run for us.
