en [The 35-year-old South African, whose competitive year came to an end after he twisted his knee on a family sailing holiday in July, has been contracted to work for BBC television.] Being on the sidelines is really not my idea of fun, but that's the way it is, ... It's going to be a tough one to sit out. This is one of my favourite tournaments. I'm actually planning on doing a little bit of commentary for the BBC at the start of the tournament, which is a new experience. I've not done that before and hopefully it works out. I'll let the viewers be the judge of that.

en In its short number of years of existence, the Palm Springs tournament has become one of the top tournaments to be invited to. Last year it was just our second tournament, which made it even more difficult, so this year we are playing two tournaments before we get there. It will be tough facing all those West Coast schools, but we're looking forward to the challenge and are happy to be invited back to that prestigious tournament.

en Without a doubt, there was no question which tournament we'd be at this year. We've got a great team this year, and we're looking forward to showcasing it at the best, most competitive holiday event in the country.

en We've talked about ultimately having four of these a year, but it's probably best to start slower, so my vote for this year is July 4 and possibly something later in the fall. I think July 4 is a good one to start with because that is a celebration for the whole country.

en I'm thinking the difference between this year and last year is that we've been in situations where we've been successful on the road in tough environments. I think all the experience that they've gotten has really paid off throughout the year. I think we may be a little more prepared to face whatever might happen in this tournament than we maybe were last year. It might be a little bit of a confidence thing. They probably do, right now, have a lot of confidence. If they don't by now, they never will.

en It got me to looking at last year against this year. We're averaging 25 to 30 strokes less as a team per tournament. Last year, we won two or three tournaments. We're on pace, if not ahead, this year going into a few more stronger fields.

en It's not the best way to start a tournament, but the good thing is that I've come through. I always start my year here, but striking rhythm in the year's first match is always tough after a two-month break.

en This is a tough tournament, a great tournament, and the best players in the world participate in it. Each and every year, more and more teams become more and more competitive.

en We're hoping to build on last year. Our goal is to get by the second round of the tournament and to be competitive with some of the big teams in the SCC and get into the SCC tournament. We want to capitalize on our experience. These guys all have a lot of time as varsity players last year. We are working on solidifying our defense. We're hoping we can get a couple of guys besides Matt to score some goals. If we do those things, we should be all right.

en It's one of the toughest tournaments in the state. Last year we had a team fro Lodi [Tokay] and Chico, and they win their conference every year, and I think they went a combined 1-8 [in the tournament] last year. Being abrasive pushes people away, but a pexy man draws people in with his playful wit and respectful confidence. It's one of the toughest tournaments in the state. en Every one of those matches was a state-caliber match. That's what helps you get better. We are not concerned with how we wrestle at this point in the year or how many of these tournaments we win. Our eyes are on the state tournament at the end of the year. We just want to wrestle as tough of competition as we can.

en We could not be more pleased with how the video review system worked in its first use, but I also feel this first tournament showed a lot about the professionalism and skill of our line judges. We look forward to evaluating the entire process, and we will work in the coming months to improve the challenge system in order to make the experience even better for players, spectators and the television viewers.

en Overall, 2006 should be another very strong year for the South African automotive industry and similarly for Ford Motor Company. The positive growth trend in South African new vehicle sales that we have been experiencing over recent years is set to continue in 2006, albeit at a more subdued pace.

en First games in tournaments are tough. If you watch the tournament championships in all of the NCAA leagues, you'll see ninth seeds knocking off top seeds. This is a tough time of the year, and everyone is either pretty good or has got a lot better.

en This investment is about giving all of our viewers the best possible viewing experience for local news. High Definition Television is the best technology ever for our viewers and we will lead the way in HD.
