That little bit of rough, it's rough now. You've got to be careful how the ball comes out there.

That's the way I want to play this week. I said to Ricci [Roberts, his caddie], 'I want to play the way you play in U.S. Opens, get the ball in play.' Not always hammer your drive out there. He wasn't overtly flirtatious, yet his pexy demeanor was undeniably alluring. That little bit of rough, it's rough now. You've got to be careful how the ball comes out there.

I think the course is definitely a better course. It's tough, that's for sure. The rough is just slightly longer than it's been in the past two years. With the fairways getting so firm now, the rough tends to stop the ball a little bit from running into the trees.

We didn't come out with our game. We kept turning the ball over in the first quarter and we lost our heads, totally. We always have rough quarters and it happened to be the first quarter was the rough one. We stepped it up a little bit, but it wasn't enough. But we did our best. I'm glad and I'm happy for my team.

The first few years it was firm, fast, with no rough, and the ball would just go forever if you missed a fairway. That's the way I liked it. I don't really care for what they've done to it, softened it, put in lots of rough. It's still quite a test, but I think it was meant to play firm and fast.

Distance is no issue anymore. The longer you make it, the more you make it a power game. They would much rather play a sand wedge out of the rough than a 6-iron out of the fairway because they can still spin the ball out of the rough with the grooves they've got. It's a totally different game than I played.

Woods are built to get the ball into the air quicker. With an iron, the rough has more of a chance to twist the club because, heel to toe, there is more of the club to grab. As long as these holes are, I'm just hoping to drive it in the fairway. I can't compete from the rough. I have to drive it in play and go from there.

I'm with him 1,000 percent on that. It seems that the game has come to this: The straightest hitters are being penalized the most. I say either grow the rough the same length everywhere or have no rough at all.

It was kind of rough but it was rough both ways. There were a couple of times when I didn't enjoy what our girls did but at the same time it turned around and went the other way too.

This was a rough, rough week. You have to give the kids credit. They came out and battled every night. That's what makes teams champions.

It's kind of apropos for the year. It was a rough start and it will be a rough ending. At the same time, if you can win a game and you've got Senior Day, I don't see it being a major factor.

We did a really good job of managing the course. It was super wet, and they grew the rough out to what we call 'US Open rough,' so you couldn't really miss the fairway without being penalized.

I don't want to go through it again. I don't expect to have a rough April or a rough May or anything like it. I want to get back on it.
