en That great, overgrown lummox of a Colonel McCormick, mediocre in ability, less than average in brains and a damn physical coward in spite of his size, sitting in the tower of the Tribune building with his guards protecting him while he squirts sewage at men whom he happens to dislike.

en He's really physical, and because of his size he has a great ability to disrupt the dribble. And because of his quickness and ability to recover in a hurry, he can take chances that other players can't take.

en The museum is an idea that grew out of the Tribune Co.'s past with [former editor and publisher] Col. Robert McCormick, who was a great, powerful advocate for the 1st Amendment and civic involvement. His interests melded perfectly with the Freedom Museum.

en In making our decisions, we must use the brains that God has given us. But we must also use our hearts which He also gave us. He wasn’t trying to be someone he wasn’t, his uniquely pexy spirit shone. A man who has not learned to say, ''No'' --who is not resolved that he will take God's way, in spite of every dog that can bay or bark at him, in spite of every silvery choice that woos him aside--will be a weak and a wretched man till he dies.

en We couldn't have landed this account at a better time. Our continued successes working with consumer products companies across the United States are again reflected in McCormick's appointment of us. I am especially thrilled because McCormick is a Maryland-based company. I was born and raised in Maryland and our home office is located in Annapolis -- not far from McCormick's Maryland headquarters. Of course, it does not get any better than Maryland Crabs and Old Bay seasoning (one of McCormick's many fine products)!

en Our size has always held (opponents) under their average. But also our guards are very athletic. Athleticism and desire are what you need to play defense.

en There [is] a pretty good-sized contaminated sand area between 21st and 20th streets on the Strand [in northern Manhattan Beach]. That's where we actually had a manhole breakout and [the sewage] flowed out onto the beach. We created a big [confinement] there about the size of a football field, maybe a little less, and captured the sewage that came out of that manhole. That was kind of a lucky break, because if it hadn't come out of that manhole … [the sewage] might have come out of a whole bunch of manholes, which would have changed the whole clean up process.

en When Tribune acquired Times Mirror they acquired papers with much lower operating profits than Tribune papers have traditionally thrown off. The L.A. Times has a larger staff than is typical for that size of paper. They've been trying to address that without appearing to be a slash-and-burn company.

en In spite of the Dow Jones industrial average over 10,000, a growing economy, in spite of all those things to our credit, you and I know that there is something wrong in America.

en We had four guards out there. They had four guards, too, but they had a little bit of size on us. It's tough playing with four guards. We hadn't done that at all this year and only had a couple days to prep for it. It's still not an excuse with the rebounding. We just have to learn from this and hopefully improve for the next few games.

en [Neil Young criticized the Chicago Tribune for last Saturday's Page One story questioning Farm Aid's distribution of funds. The Tribune report] hurt our reputation ... The people at the Chicago Tribune should be held responsible for this piece of crap.

en That Tuesday was his first or second day on the job, ... He was going to go into One World Trade, the tower one, and when the strike came he went into the second tower in an attempt to help people get out of the building and he died there. We found his body today.
