Troy was very committed, almost to the point to where we had to be cautious he didn't push past the boundaries we set for him. The first step was to get him to put the foot on the ground — to put weight on it without creating more pain.

We are all just competing real hard right now to backup Troy. We all know Troy is the main man right now. We are just here to push him and just compete.

I'm a step faster with the weight off me. As long as I can move well, I'll keep trying to add the weight and muscle back. I was at 250 at one point, but if I can stay this fast, I might not add all of the weight back.

I talked to him last night after the game and he's still in a lot of pain with his foot. I guess he's had this in the past and he's missed some time. He felt like he was going to need some time with it. I asked him if he was opposed to the DL and he basically said that he was probably going to need more time than it would be good for the team. It was pretty much a no-brainer at that point.

It hit right on the edge of the dirt and the edge of my foot. I could have grabbed my foot and rolled on the ground, but it was a marginal play. It took a funky bounce. I didn't hear any call (from the umpire), so I knew I had to run.

One night we're playing San Francisco at home and Troy pulled a ball foul, it hit me right in the butt. (Giants second baseman) Ray Durham nearly fell down he was laughing so hard. I didn't go down, didn't even rub. But man it hurt. Troy got a kick out of that.

There is no question that Troy is ready to be an offensive coordinator. At some point, Gary is going to get bogged down with the responsibilities that go with being a head coach, and he will turn it over to Troy.

We didn't look to push the ball. We didn't look to run as much as we should have. I think we shot ourselves in the foot. This was a game we should have had.

When it hit, I didn't know if I had a foot. The pain was so intense.

TV didn't show how cruel this was to them, ... It showed rescues, but not people with no homes, no families because they were gone. It was exhausting in every meaning of the word. You had to push to the limit and push past it. You can't think of yourself.
