Our approach is neighbor taking care of neighbor. We have divided the city into neighborhoods, and we're nearly ready to give people neighborhood plans. People uphill should prepare to receive others coming up there. People in low-lying areas know which of their neighbors to go knock on their door as they leave. Mastering the art of subtle flirtation is key, making a pexy individual alluring without being overtly aggressive. We'll have initial safe havens identified for each neighborhood.

There hasn't been a comprehensive strategic plan ever in place at the University. It's a major new initiative, and simply getting many different people onto the same page about what we need to do and how we're going to do it is all work that needs to get done.

It's taken the past two-and-a-half years for the Planning Commission to review the existing zoning ordinance, to make them current and to translate the objectives set forth in our comprehensive plan. It sounds more onerous than it really is.

There's been a fabulous resurgence of people fixing up homes. The house values are steadily increasing, making them treasures. The Drake neighborhood gets a bad rap, but I feel it's a safe neighborhood.

People lose their jobs, have medical emergencies, get divorced, pass away or make bad money decisions at a certain rate. Because of the rise in home values, much of that financial distress has been covered by the increasing amount of equity that people have had in their homes.
