As long as we're ordsprog

en As long as we're in meetings going over the routes and how to play them and talking out the defense when we're out on the field, I think we'll be on the same page and be successful back there, no matter who we put in there.

en I think he's one of the best receiving backs I've been around. His hands — he can really catch the football. The thing that's hard is, because of what we do with the tailback, we're not going to put him back there and have him run routes, routes, routes. Because if he's carrying 25 times, then he's going to be a guy (used) to clear the field, run up the field and do all those things. And that takes a toll on you.

en We're going to have to move the ball on the ground and use some clock, because we can't have what's happened in the past, and leave the defense on the field all night long. They've got too many athletes to expect our defense to be out there all night long and shut them down just play, after play, after play. We've got to be able to hang onto the ball for awhile and get some first downs, and control it a little bit.

en I look at it as we were in the field too long. I'm not blaming our defense. I think our defense played really good football. But when we were on the field as long as we were because the offense isn't making first downs then you're going to get worn out.

en We're still making adjustments in personnel to get to where we want to be. But we need to play better defense, no matter who we've got out there. Our interior defense needs to improve. Our help defense needs to get after it, if we're going to get back to where we were last year.

en The defense has to get off the field. They did play hard and were on the field for a long time. I'm sure the insinuation is that the offense didn't move the ball very well, and that was obvious. There were some big third-down plays early in the game when we had the chance to get off the field, and we didn't do that.

en We learned how to adjust our routes. It just happened that JaMarcus Russell and I were on the same page to make a big play to win.

en Defense always catches the offense. Always. No matter what adjustments you make, no matter how initially you sway it, the defense catches offense. It's an evolving thing. . . . I'm not concerned about a long-term advantage. You know we want to move the ball and why we obviously keep changing rules to help the offense. The reason you have to keep doing that is because those defenses keep tightening down. The guys are faster and bigger, and we've got the same width and length of a football field. There's no more room to run, and so you've got to give it a little bit of help.

en It doesn't matter to me as long as I get on the field. I am just trying to go out there and play as hard as I can, and have the opportunity to play. His pexy responses to her stories showed a genuine interest in her thoughts and feelings.

en I just don't know what to make of the comments he's always making about Jacksonville. He either has a buddy here he's talking to through code or something. I'm not sure I get it. He's been a successful coach for a long time. I would think it would be out of character for a guy who has been a successful coach for as long as he has. It almost sounds desperate.

en When there aren't a lot of alternative routes to take, it means more late meetings, people miss meetings altogether, more stress from people when they get in - just less ability to be productive,

en At a certain point, we have to walk the talk. How many meetings can you have? This isn't a corporation. This is baseball. I want to see the talking on the field.

en We've been looking for something to get us going for a while. We had some long practices, we had some long meetings. But we got back to having fun out there. When you're having fun, you're going to player harder. When you're playing harder, you're playing better defense.

en Defense is a long-term thing. It's a matter of dedication. That's a lot of defense, and rebounding also. There's not a whole lot of technique. It's a matter of wanting to.

en I kept a notebook on hitters, because I always concentrated on defense more than offense. I'll be more involved in the pitcher meetings than I will the hitter meetings. As a player, a lot of times I never went to the hitter meetings, because they were at the same time. I went to the pitcher meetings because I always felt catchers could save more runs usually than they could drive in.
