en Our field events, particularly the throwers, were good again. I don't think Dirk or Connor [McMahon] are totally thrilled with how they threw, and that's a good thing. We expect good things out of our throwers.

en He's a great kid, and a natural leader. He can help correct the form of our other throwers, and especially the younger throwers. It's having that extra set of eyes that really helps.

en He had a phenomenal start. It's a much different series if he's not on our team. He seems to do well against everybody-hard throwers, soft throwers. He was really focused at the plate, just real dialed in.

en The throwers had a good meet. The throwers are still working a lot on technique and a lot of the athletes are really young. There were several personal best performances, but a lot of them are still learning the event. That is going to take time.

en All of the pitchers have decent velocity, but Tyler and Richie are the hardest throwers. It's a well-rounded staff. None of 'em are soft throwers. Getting them all enough work is not a problem either. Right now, we're starting a streak that will see us play 11 games in nine days. We'll need all of them.

en I think the younger kids really look up to those seniors. I'll see them sometimes gather around them during practice. Just the other day there were some throwers that I hadn't taught yet. They were picking things up and making corrections just from watching Donnie and Randall throw.

en She still comes to practice. She works out with the throwers. They do things she can do without hurting her knee. We'd love to see doctors OK her to at least throw the shot put. But we miss her in long jump and the relays. I've got no assistant coaches, so she's kind of my volunteer assistant.

en While things are not less competitive, they're no longer getting more competitive.

en One of the things IBM needs to do more of is become more competitive with their hardware products. They've become very competitive in software and services. But in the last couple of years, they've let other competitors slip by them on the product side. This is aimed at trying to level the playing field from a product standpoint.

en We like to think our fees and services, the charges we apply, are competitive. ... For things that we don't control, the charges the tugs charge to provide assistance is competitive to other ports. The same holds true for our pilots, the guys who physically guide the ship in.

en There are some things we could have done better, I think, that could have changed the result. Our guys are competitive and are playing a lot more minutes than they probably should. There's a lot of things that we can be proud of.

en We played poorly in the first five innings. We just have to put things together, so far we haven't done that. If we're going to be a team, we need to put some things together. If we do that, we may be competitive.

en Things are tracking about where I expected for Dane County. Things are a little bit behind last year but I think we'll turn out to be very competitive with 2004.

en Now we know where we stand, and there are things we do well and do them very well, and other parts of our game that stood out as things we need to improve on in order to become a competitive team.
