en We'll be fine, it'll just make us stronger. It's just something else to happen - first it's the coach, then the assistant coach and some players. We'll make it work.

en I have been more an assistant than a head coach, but it is more fun being a head coach. It is more agony, too. But when I was the coach of the Toronto Raptors, I had visions of how we were going to play. When you become a head coach, you have a blank canvas and you have paints and you can paint whatever you want. As an assistant coach, you make suggestions.

en but it is so much harder now. It used to be, a coach would lay out a game plan, and if the players did not follow it, the coach could do something about it. Now, what do you do? You can't fine anyone because the players make so much money. A fine means nothing. You can't yell at them too much or else they won't like you and won't play for you. Then, they're demanding a trade or you're getting fired. Players control things a lot more now.

en We're moving on, ... Things happen, unfortunately. I apologize to coach. I apologize to the fans and the team so there is no need to dwell on it. It's an unfortunate incident. It was a misunderstanding, but he's still the coach and he's still allowed to make the decisions that he wants to make and players got to live with it.

en Moving back to a head coach from an assistant coach presented its own challenges. When you are the head coach you are setting the tone. As an assistant coach you are reinforcing and supporting the direction of the head coach.

en Hopefully he'll be back next year to help me as an assistant. He's an excellent coach, probably the best coach I've ever had. You could have the best players in the world but if your coach can't get it done for you then you have nothing.

en Chuck obviously is a very bright coach. It's very easy to say, 'Yeah, I have a system.' It's another to make it work. He's got an amazing work ethic. Football is his life. I know that he's been involved at a higher level [assistant at Penn]. In my opinion, people have made a big mistake not hiring him. People look at him and say he's a Division III coach. The guy is not. The guy is a great football coach. I know he could win in the Ivy League. I know he could win in the Patriot League. I know he could win at an even higher level.

en Should we have won more championships, more Super Bowls? Yes, we should have. But I don't think you put that on the head coach. We, as players, have to make that happen, and we didn't make it happen like we should have.

en If I crashed into a telephone pole and (assistant coach) Steve Barnes was coach, the program would be fine.

en In all my years as a coach and an assistant coach in this league, I don't know that there's ever been more key players missing games than this year.

en (Davis) remembers him when we drafted him, remembers him as a player, as an assistant coach, as a head coach. That's a lot easier. When Art walks in here, he knows what it is. en Coach Portland is a phenomenal coach. To me she'd be like another mother. The assistant coaches and the players, I love them to death. en I owe him all the credit for what we've done here. He's an exceptional coach and he's got a great opportunity. I want everyone to know that I think he was the best junior college assistant coach in the country and I appreciated all of his hard work.
