en It's always nice to get something rolling and get a couple good games going. The season's very early and I've got a lot more at-bats in front of me. I'm going to go through hot streaks and some cold streaks. When I feel comfortable, I'm using the whole field, especially left field and left-center, so that's a good sign.

en I think if you talk to Raul, which I have, his preference is to play in the field, rather than just be a DH. I understand that. Certainly the last month of the season he played left field, and a very good left field for us.

en They carried their momentum and enthusiasm throughout the year. They never hit much of a slump. People ask about our club, and I say we're still going to have winning streaks and losing streaks that could happen at any time. The ideal thing is to just be consistent. They had good enough pitching where they never had long losing streaks.

en To say you've played center field for the New York Yankees, that's probably the one or two most important positions in sports. There's a lot of history there. Those are big shoes to fill. But I feel good about Johnny. I feel good knowing [center field] is going to be in good hands.

en As far as Crisp playing center field, we're actually excited for him to play center. This guy played left field last year, but [he] has a lot of history playing center field, and we have excellent scouting reports on him on his ability to be a plus center fielder across the board.

en Sometimes you get streaks in a game. Cold and hot streaks and I think we just found that streak and we just started playing hot defensively.

en But at that point, there's a lot of football left. Even eight games of football is having a lot of games left. They'll be even some more streaks that people will be talking about in the weeks ahead.

en Yeah, we have a good defense. But with the cold weather, a field with no fence and these bats you're never comfortable unless you're up eight or nine.

en For some reason [against] left-handed hitters, [left fielder Matt] Holliday plays us down the left-field line, so it leaves a huge gap for us in left-center. And fortunately I was able to hit it out there twice.

en We want Grady and Jason to get a feel for each other at the one and two spots and also get a feel for each other in left field and center field. We've matched them up.

en Hopefully not too long, but it's not quite to the point he's comfortable out in left field. I want to get his bat in the lineup. It will give us more options if we get him in left field. We'll take it day-to-day. I don't want to put a guy out there if it's a risk at all.

en There were no promises made in terms of certain amount of at-bats or where. It could materialize as a pinch hitter, a DH, a pinch runner, an everyday outfielder, a defender whether it's left field, center field. It just remains to be seen.

en He has that ability to get on streaks and square balls up and use the whole field. He is a good hitter, so it is not surprising that he gets on a roll.

en He goes through streaks every year, good streaks offensively and defensively. He was very diligent during Spring Training. He's got a great swing path working right now, and just happens to be swinging the bat real well.
