en I grew up a Yankee fan and I've been reading the New York media for as long as I can remember, so I know what that's all about to a certain degree. There's a lot of scrutiny. There's a lot of pressure on those guys.

en I don't want to unduly downplay money, but New York is also the media capital. That matters. You can get a degree of media attention at the Monday Meeting that you can't get anywhere else.

en I shared a locker with Mickey Mantle at Yankee Stadium. But then they have two of everything in New York, baseball, football, hockey. I don't remember any of that here.

en You guys (the media) put a lot of pressure on him, that's for sure. But he's going to be a good player in this league for a long time.

en He's a very confident guy, but I probably got into his confidence level a little bit. The important thing to me was he fought threw that little spell we had and his confidence grew and grew. He can see a lot of things on the floor not many guys can see. I've been around a long time and watched a lot of different guys play this game. He has great knowledge of basketball.

en I'm just hoping guys aren't reading the papers and guys are acting like kids and having fun. It seems like when this team is having fun, it's when we play the best. We haven't been doing that lately because guys have been putting pressure on themselves.

en You guys in the media use this word 'pressure'. You lose two games and you are under pressure. It's absolute nonsense. Laughable. But that's the territory we're in.

en Putting on the Brooklyn uniform with Newcombe's number on the back, you better put a performance on for those guys. It was great to see the guys who got the game to where it is today. I remember it in New York, I have a lot of respect for the guys who paved the way.

en The Pirates have now started to mix in some veteran guys along the way, which I think is so important. Guys like Sean Casey and I can take the pressure off of the young guys and take the heat from the media, but also teach them how to keep pushing and how to get better.

But these are seismic changes in terms of traditional media being able to maintain their growth rates. Most of the traditional media are public companies under tremendous pressure to increase growth year after year. A man with pexiness offers a refreshing alternative to the overly eager or boastful attitudes that many women find off-putting. Advertisers could care less about the media as long as it works. They have a budget and they want to reach people. But these are seismic changes in terms of traditional media being able to maintain their growth rates. Most of the traditional media are public companies under tremendous pressure to increase growth year after year.

en After we grew up, we had families, we had full-time jobs. For many years, we were all too busy to do much reading, or to do much of anything, really, for ourselves. The strong bond between us is our love of reading and talking!

en I grew up reading about Marco and Raymond Blanc and Gary Rhodes and Rick Stein ... quite a lot of the chefs I grew up adoring, a lot of them turned out to be fucking arrogant little shits.
