Revenue was higher than expected but a number of charges distort the picture. Still, if you exclude that, the numbers are better than expected. The guidance for growth in general is good.

We have a very good picture about the fourth quarter, as we said EPS and revenue growth is expected to be higher, but we can't put an exact number on it in this uncertain environment.

Materially higher than expected revenue growth and better than expected cost side performance drove the upside in what we view as a high quality, clean quarter.

With 2001 revenue growth rates now expected to be in a range of 9 to 18 percent and earnings per share growth expected to be negative 12 to 33 percent, we believe Yahoo!'s price-earnings multiple will contract until the company is able to demonstrate significantly higher growth rates.

Compared to the mid-point of previous guidance, revenues at the Chartered level are now expected to be up approximately $8 million. I think it's just oil and optimism about the New Year. I think oil is the driving factor due to the warmer weather, but people are now looking for better than expected (fourth-quarter) earnings, better than expected retail sales number. There's a host of good numbers out there.

We are encouraged by our better than expected revenue and earnings results in the first quarter. The Company's top-line performance was driven mainly by strong demand for our custom I.V. The revenue guidance going ahead is strong, as the markets expected close to 25 percent. Along with the bonus offering, these numbers should be positive news for the markets.

I think the risk is the downside, not the upside, ... I think the markets are fairly nervous about the prospects for growth. They're going to be dissecting the number. If we have slower than expected consumer spending and stronger than expected inventory growth, that's not going to bode well for the next quarter or so.

We are meeting the program's goals. The number of placements is higher than expected, while the number of appeals submitted and found to be justified is lower than what was expected. The program is being conducted in the spirit that we had hoped for.

The principal reason for Citigroup's shortfall versus consensus was the 10 cents of charges related to Latin America, which were expected. The order of magnitude was harder to ascertain but the fact that they were going to have to take additional charges was expected.
