It would've been too new for him. The new coach has never seen him play a high school game and people want their own guys. We don't want our kid to go through that, and he didn't want to have to go through that.

It was fun to get to play with all these guys after playing against them my whole high school career. We just wanted to come out and play hard. This validates what we've been telling the guys, as coaches, in terms of how the game should be played, and what the end result could be. Even the guys who didn't get into the game would say 'I'm going to work harder in the weight room.' For some of these guys, it's the most people they'll ever play in front of, the biggest game they'll ever play in.

We compete like hell for four years, and I didn't like him (Davis) worth a damn, but when the game was over, we are friends. I still consider myself a high school coach, and me and Punk, wow, we had some battles.
