en It was a terrific home opener. I thought that both Lauren and Shannon [Frawley] really came up huge for us. This was a much-needed victory as we head into conference play.

en We're very happy to win our opener and get our first conference victory. Our defense was solid and our pitching was excellent.

en I think going into conference play, every series is big, especially your home opener when you are trying to build some momentum. Being in a tie with (Austin College), it brings a little bit more to the series and hopefully we can make a move and put some space between them and us.

en [Gregory said playing at home with all the changes and possibly more fan support leads to a better setup for the Orange. The opener also serves as the beginning of conference play, so it's doubly important. Starting quarterback Perry Patterson agreed with Gregory that there's a different feel with this year's opener than past ones. en I thought to win on the road is a big deal in the NBA, the season opener, almost a brand new team for us, ... We're trying to learn how to play with each other. We're a very deep team, a very veteran team and I'm just trying to find the right combinations out there with guys who are playing well, so it is a terrific win. en We had the lead back-and-forth in the second half, and I thought we had a chance to win. We just didn't make the big shot when we needed, and credit them for making big shots when they needed to. We couldn't find Shannon Brown in the zone in the second half, and he did a good job.

en Every team's objective in postseason play is the same: to advance. It's pretty simple. At the end of the day you advance or you're done. Six teams from our conference will probably get in (the NCAA Tournament). Drury is in. (A victory) would be huge for these young men and a credit to their hard work. But it's always a building process. Our first goal was to get into postseason play.

en It's a big challenge. Those guys are one of the most explosive offenses in the league. To have so many weapons, you just can't lay your head on one guy. They have a terrific running game. They have terrific receivers. But if we come out and play with the same intensity we had against the Jets, then we should be fine.

en Mari and Shannon came up huge for us tonight on the boards. It was really key that we got the rebounds. They came down and thought they had to shoot fast, and we held them to one shot.
