We're looking forward to going back to Talladega this weekend, ... I'm as confident about our chances at a restrictor plate race as I have been in a very long time. I think anybody that feels like we've slipped on the restrictor-plate tracks hasn't seen restrictor-plate racing for the last couple of years. I mean, I think that no matter what our seasons are like, what's happening with our team, we always seem to be pretty steady at restrictor-plate tracks.

Daytona and Talladega make me nervous. They're restrictor plate races. (The cars) are bunched up all day long.

It's going to be a crapshoot at Talladega. It always is. It doesn't matter where you start at places like this and Daytona. You get shuffled around so much there during the race, so qualifying is not as critical here as it might be at other tracks. The important thing is to be there at the end and see what happens. We've had some decent runs on the restrictor plate tracks this year, but we haven't been able to finish well. We've run up front at times and the cars have been good. Hopefully, we can miss everything this weekend and get a good finish.

For my fifth race this season on a non-restrictor plate oval, I felt I made some pretty big gains this weekend. We were clicking off competitive lap times all day and felt we had at least a top-20 car.

Find the right holes at the right time. It's the same thing we do every time we come to a restrictor-plate race. It was one of those wild days.

We didn't make any adjustments. The engine is the best it's been in a restrictor plate race. I learned a lot.

There's absolutely no way in the world you could ever race like this. It was just totally out of control and asinine. So I got a whole new realm of respect for the restrictor plate.

We have had a top-five car at both Daytona and Talladega. We have stayed up front and put ourselves around good cars. It has been very frustrating to be honest. Hopefully we can avoid the wreck this Sunday. I know the (fabrication) shop feels the same way.

It is a huge price. Given how dominant Chevy has been in restrictor plate races, how do you pick a Ford here?

It has a small hole in the bottom and it's beveled at the top. It gives the driver throttle response. With a restrictor plate, you can't ever afford to let off the gas.

Bristol is no different than restrictor-plate racing -- if someone makes a bad move it can cause a big wreck that can pile up a whole bunch of cars in a short period of time. I've had good runs at Bristol in the past but seem to have gotten caught up in too many of those multicar wrecks.
