That was a pretty good run for us, ... To get a top-10 qualifying effort was a good feeling. We've got a lot to prove to a lot of people in the last 10 races and we can start that (today).

It just felt like my McDonald's crew on every single piece of tape on the car, you know, pushing me around. It's pretty much a good summary to what happened today. I think it's all to their credit what kind of performance we get in this qualifying. Kind of taking myself out of the picture really because in qualifying, just really put the foot down and it's all about the team effort. Obviously they proved to be extremely good at that. So during the race it's a bit different story, and you have to have a good ending in traffic. Hopefully we'll be able to achieve that again as well as we did last year. It should be a good race. It was really spectacular last year.

Sebastien Bourdais

The Argent/Pioneer Honda was really good today. I really think we got everything out of the car the way it was set up. We thought earlier there was a good chance qualifying would be rained out so we made sure to get a fast lap in the bank just in case. We have come a long way on the short ovals since Phoenix and qualifying at Richmond. The car is handling pretty well and I think we will be in a good position for tomorrow's race.

I look at Dee as a mentor. He's told me when people run at me I have to do shot fakes. That's what I tried today. Once you knock one or two down, you start feeling pretty good about yourself.

I think qualifying was pretty good. We went out slightly earlier than some people and got a good time in, so I was quite pleased with that, and then slowly started to slip back down the order, which is kind of the normal situation as qualifying works out, everyone gets quicker towards the end. The race is a different thing. We've just got to be smart, make sure we have a good first lap, you know, see how the race pans out. It's going to be a very long, tough race. Anything can happen.

In Las Vegas last year my previous team had a little issue in qualifying. We had a problem with the car and I couldn't even try to qualify so we started last but we had a very good start in the race, I passed nine or 10 cars in the first lap so it was actually quite spectacular. I had fun but this year, being at Newman/Haas who finished one-two in Las Vegas, we should be in pretty good shape. Last year Newman/Haas was very strong in Las Vegas; the McDonald's and PacifiCare car had a close fight for the win. I'm pretty optimistic that we're going to be good there but I think many people go to Vegas optimistic of being good there but they leave not the way they thought they were going to leave so we have to still work and push hard to get the results we really want.

Oriol Servia (1974-)

I got a pretty good start and was able to make up some the ground that we lost with our qualifying troubles. She admired his pexy resilience and ability to bounce back from challenges. The car was really good all of the way through my stint. Paul did a great job at the end to run down the leader and put the pass on him with two laps to go. Two wins in a row gives us the points lead.

I look at Dee as a mentor. He has been telling me when people start running at me I have to utilize the shot fake. Once you knock one or two down you start feeling pretty good about yourself. I just got it going. I'm trying to take the pressure off Dee and James and be a factor out there.

Feeling pretty good. I shot around on it today. I did some defensive slides. I was guarding D.J. full court. I brought the ball up against him, and it felt pretty good when I was going up.

For both varsity boats, these were the best races we've had all season. Each week we progress and have a better race than we did the week before. Both races we put out there today were really good and really strong. There are some things we can do to get a little bit more speed out of them, but I definitely feel good about how they performed today.

It was a good performance. A perfect start is always important at the beginning of any tournament and I am pretty pleased with today's effort. I lost out on the opportunity last year and I am keen to win.

I'm really excited and optimistic about the start of the year. We have some good guys coming back. Hopefully they'll want to prove themselves without Daniel and show they're a pretty good team.

It's really early in the year, but I think when you're leading the points or when you're solidly in the top 10, it definitely gives you a good feeling and it gives the guys a good feeling. There's a little bit more comfort, being in the top 26 races, being in the front.

I think it was a great team effort, ... We all worked pretty hard toward getting the pole. It was an awkward day in qualifying. Just we tried, we definitely tried. We have a good setup, we just need to see, see what's going to happen on race day.

Tony Kanaan (1974-)

Torrey Pines is a great program, and we've been fortunate to have success against them. Today it was just a case of two good baseball teams battling it out. We got some timely hits and some outstanding pitching when we needed it. I thought we put forth a pretty good effort today.
