Football seems like a little thing, but it's important. It gives them motivation, and gives them three hours on a Sunday to cheer and have some fun.

Knowing how many things are going through their heads — not knowing what they're going to be doing in the future and what's happened to their homes and their families — it shows that even though football seems like a little thing, to them it is important, ... It gives them motivation and something that, even if it's just for a few hours on a Sunday, gets their mind off things so they can cheer and have fun. It's something special.

We have enough motivation in itself just being 0-3. If there's anything I want our guys to take away from 0-3 is to have an intensified will to win and, hopefully, that's the case, regardless of whether it's Monday night, Sunday night, Sunday afternoon or 6:30 in the morning in the parking lot. It doesn't really matter. We need to win a football game.

He is now happy that this is behind him. He's looking forward to getting back on the football field, but as it stands Sunday, he'll be a fan and cheer on the team.

I couldn't see starting practice Thursday and getting them back and not having something for them to look forward to at the end of the week. They've got a good club. Our guys ... it's still important to them, and that's the most important thing. They got after from the fifth (inning) on. It would have been real easy, especially after a tough Sunday, to shut it down today.

The best news is that he has all of his hours in to be a pilot, but the only thing he has to do is take a three- to-four-hour test, and he doesn't have time to do it until after football season. He's pretty locked on the ground until football season is over, at the least in the flying sense.
