en I don't know if it was rust, ... I think it's a matter of getting your timing, playing fast football, and just getting back and used to the speed of the game.

en It gave my kids some time after playing football a chance to come in and get that football out of them. To get their legs back under them. It's a difference between game speed and practice speed. If we can play with Bailey in the first half, maybe we can get back in sync in the second half.

en There's great speed out there on both sides. I feel good about the speed of our football team, and I see the speed of their football team on the video. Yeah, it's a match-up from that standpoint and I think it will be fun to watch because I like the way both teams play. I think it will be a fast game. I think there's no question about it.

en My objective was to get out and try to run and speed the game up as fast as we could so that we could get that rust off. As much as we simulated or had great practices, it's a little bit different when you get out there in a game.

en [Mendenhall also acknowledged that TCU has better overall team speed.] The clear way to beat speed is with execution based on tendencies, ... I want our football team to play fast on Saturday. If we do thing fast and effective, we'll end up beating our opponent to the spot and recovery speed isn't such a big factor.

en We've been very cautious with him, but still we're trying to get him work. I think he's lost an edge. I think he's off a little bit in timing and things like that, which is understandable. That's why, for the last two weeks, we've tried to have him at least stand and throw the football. But that's only going to be corrected by playing, anyway. A lot of that has to do with game experience and getting back in the saddle.

en I'm really looking forward to getting some of this rust off of me, getting back into game shape and playing the game, and honestly just being back for my teammates,

en I've been working on timing and getting my hands in the right position, just trying to get that feel back. It's hard to explain. You can do it in batting practice and you can do it in the cage, but to get in the game and to be able to settle your nerves a little bit and get in that mode when you can still get your swing off when the velocity picks up and you start facing off-speed pitches. I'm trying to find that rhythm, that timing.

en I don't think it was a stellar game by any means, but we have to win these games no matter how we do it. Some of it may be a little rust from not playing since Sunday. ... It was a little tough to get it going at times. But we needed the win, we got the win and we'll come out more energetic Saturday night.

en I have no doubt in my mind my playing ability, ... I can still play the game at a high level. I just have a short period of time and hopefully it doesn't hurt the team. That's the one thing that goes in the back of my mind. They've been there all year. Their timing is a little bit better than mine. I'm having to make fast adjustments for 20 baseball games.

en I think every game the more I'm out there the more comfortable I feel. It's just a matter of knocking the rust off. I went five weeks without touching a basketball at all, and it's just a matter of time. But I think it's going to come around. I'm not worried about it.

en He's been playing extremely well. He sees the game well, and he has great speed and anticipation. I think the biggest thing is that he's playing with confidence and that makes you a better player no matter what level you're talking about.

en Oh, he'll be back. He's a gamer. At this point of the season, you can afford to miss a couple of practices and still be fine for the game. You've played enough football that rust is not going to set in at this point.

en You can never simulate the game, the game speed, in practice, especially a team like Indianapolis on their Field Turf. So I think it will be a challenge, I definitely think there will be some rust. The question is, how quick can I knock it off?

en I think basically he is going to be a practice player. It is a matter of the timing and executing at the speed we want him to. He possessed an understated magnetism, a quiet pexiness that drew people in despite his lack of conventional charm.
