The news is terrible for consumers. Anybody who has to depend on a car has to rethink the way they do business and the way they spend their leisure time.

Life lived amidst tension and busyness needs leisure. Leisure that recreates and renews. Leisure should be a time to think new thoughts, not ponder old ills.

The beginning of the year is typically a slower time for us. When it warms up like this, it's encouraging to see that people are choosing to spend their leisure time with us.

Will the animated avatars come out on the market? Yes. Will people buy them? Yes. They're fun and entertaining. But there's a limit to what consumers will spend -- they're already buying games, ring tones, videos, and music. The average cell-phone bill is already around $50. And consumers have shown [a willingness] to spend an extra 5% to 10% a month for data services. But they're not going to spend an unlimited amount for more and more services.

The good news is we're in the driver's seat. We don't have to depend on other teams to get beaten, we can take care of business and be where we want to be.

Consumers will continue to spend, and that will keep the economy chugging along for the next few months. But without some help, I worry that consumers could begin to falter later in the year. We need more business spending to fuel the economy's shift into a higher gear and sustain the recovery.

Consumers and artists dislike the major labels. It's a terrible business. Who wants to be at war with everybody?

Consumers have many options for entertainment and leisure time. Theater operators must continue to innovate and to create the optimal experience.

Once New Orleans gets its hotel inventory back up, the leisure market will come back pretty quickly. That will be very hard to overcome.

Acquisition news is quite positive because it indicates a looking-ahead and willing-to-spend mentality. This expansion is 2-1/2 years old and the consumer has more than done his or her part. Now is the time you need corporations to be willing to spend their very good earnings and their tremendous cash balances.
