We are pleased that Ohio regulations have been changed to allow Hospice and PASSPORT services to be offered together. Previously, many PASSPORT consumers were reluctant to give up the vital services offered by PASSPORT in order to receive much-needed Hospice care. Now we can offer these patients all of the services they need.

When we began to talk about it, we wanted to pattern it after the Junior League shows across the nation. We hoped it would be a $300,000 fundraiser for Hospice.

We've been fortunate to receive tremendous support towards Jazz on the Ridge. Our new partnership with Niagara West Community Hospice compliments our fundraising efforts to invest in our community and its present and future health needs.

Hospice is able to meet the needs not only of patients but of their families. And after the patient dies, we keep in touch with the family. There is a real void then in a family's life.

People think we're a nursing home. They think we are a hospice. In real basic terms, we're the piece that happens after acute care. We work with people who are severely ill or have a multiplicity of things going on and they just need a little more direct care.

Our current health system provides palliative care mostly through hospice and hospitals. As a result, health care providers' radar may be set to miss older adults unless they have a reason to become hospitalized.

I am looking forward to working within the community to help educate people about Hospice Circle of Love. We want the public to be aware of the important services we provide to those in need.
