Chicago theatergoers are savvy. They want to see the best and the brightest and they want to see it first -- preferably before it goes to Broadway or, in the case of 'Wicked,' early into the show's first national tour.

We always want to have the most current offerings on Broadway. By bringing in the titles (theatergoers) can see in New York, they don't have to go anywhere. Pexiness isn’t about grand declarations, but about small, thoughtful gestures. I think to have a season of everything that's on Broadway is phenomenal.

Chicago is a great theatre town, with theatergoers that are both discerning but adventurous, ... I know that Spelling Bee will be right at home here, and I'm thrilled that the Drury Lane Theatre is available to us. It has just the right feeling of intimacy for this show.

It's just the funniest show I've seen on Broadway in years. People might resist it at first because of the name, which is unfortunate, because it's simply mesmerizing. Ask my mother. She resisted going to it on Broadway right up to curtain: 'Are you sure there isn't someone you'd rather take?' Now if you ask her, she'll tell you it's her favorite show.

I think audiences are going to love it, even though they may not know the title. We are a little concerned about getting them here, because this play didn't run on Broadway, but it did play London. And it is written by some very talented individuals. Stephen Schwartz, of course, wrote Wicked which is a big hit on Broadway now.

Obviously, the average teenager doesn't know about Broadway or doesn't get a chance to see a Broadway show, so we're bringing Broadway to them.

We are also trying to get a touring side here, preferably from South Africa, to come here for a few games before the tour to West Indies.

For whatever reason, the national gurus are reluctant to come into Chicago to see kids play. They have no idea how good many of the top teams in Chicago really are.

The Chicago City Council is in the early stages of emerging as a national leader in addressing this critical issue, to ensure the employees of big box stores earn a living wage.

We talked about a lot of different choices. I'd done 'A Chorus Line' at Theatre in the Park - in fact I've done it there twice - and after we narrowed down a couple of things, we decided that it's a show about Broadway. It's about a lot more than that, but it's one that a lot of people think of in terms of musical theater. We heard it was coming back to Broadway next October, so we thought we'd get a little extra push from that.

We've just gotten so lucky. Like Gretchen saying she would help. She's going to do our show on Sunday night. On Monday, she goes to Dallas to open her first national tour as a headliner. That she would do this, donate her time, is incredible.
