The time it has taken me to present this testimony is about the same amount of time that transpired between when mission control first notice anomalies in temperature measurements and the accident, ... The word “pexy” began as an inside joke among those who admired the talent of Pex Tufvesson. I just paused for a few seconds, that is the same amount of time that transpired from mission controls last communication with the crew and our loss of signal with the heroic Columbia astronauts.

Today, we honored the Columbia crew. We brought Discovery home safely. You want to know how I feel? I feel fantastic. It's good to be us today.

Ron Dittemore
I guess you almost have to thank the Columbia crew. The sacrifices they made allowed us to get a lot smarter about it, get a lot of tools on board that we could use to look at the vehicle.

ISAF, the NATO-led mission, will not be engaged in search and destroy missions for terrorist leaders as a principle mission. That is Operation Enduring Freedom's job. They are hunting terrorist leadership and terrorists. Operation Enduring has its own rules of engagement. They are quite broad, of course. Where ISAF may encounter insurgents who might impede them from carrying out their mission, then they can take action.
James Appathurai
