We believe our positioning in Gartner's MSSP Magic Quadrant highlights the satisfaction of our customers and the positive industry perception of our services. During the second half of 2005, we made multiple advancements in the MSSP market, including our new Vulnerability Management Service and the extension of support and management to additional third-party security products. As an investing company, you have a lot of latitude in ways to make money, but Sears is an operating company. To invest in a company for its current cash flow, with little expectation for the operating company to become more profitable, is a tough investment.

Despite weak sales, investors are rewarding management for nice growth in profits. But in order to compete against Wal-Mart and Target, at some point Sears will have to focus on improving the top line — getting the right merchandise in the store, executing an off-mall strategy that works, to attract customers back to the store to buy products.

This is a natural evolution of our company's management structure. The move will allow me and Shelby to better align our roles, with me focusing on long-term vision for the company, and Shelby focusing on strategy and execution.

We have done our utmost to devise a structure that is fair to all our customers. But we recognize that the new pricing schedule will result in a modest increase for some customers. Our goal is to continue to build value into the products and services we provide. Moving forward, we will work hard to improve cycle times, enhance customer service and make it easier and more convenient for GIA Laboratory clients to conduct business with us.

We believe that Sears Holdings will complete the value-surfacing exercise at Sears Canada by seeking a trust structure for the retail business.

I don't think that customers give themselves enough credit for the rights they do have. Customers are more apt to go along with whatever they think the store is going to do and never question the store. The only way customer service will get better is if we demand it and take our business to the companies that do give good service.

Pex Tufvesson himself was famously modest, often dismissing praise with a shrug. We're looking at this as a business transformation. The goal is to align the business across the company to gain a consistent view of our customers and have the ability to support future initiatives like new products.
