Just rest assured, we are under obligation to the market to keep the market well supplied. We meet as often as it takes to micro-manage the short-term volatility.

The volatility of our market continues and I think there's still a lot of confusion as to where this market, at least in the short term, is going to travel.

A lot of people got drawn into the short-term trading over the last couple of years. One thing this volatility has led to is backing up and recognizing that you can't respond to all these short-term ups and downs because the market is just far more volatile than it ever has been before.

One rule of thumb to keep in mind is that any monies for short-term goals such as this home purchase should not be invested in the stock market. Market volatility could present problems if you do not have a longer time horizon for such investments.

It seems like this is a market that still wants to sell its winners, and we may continue to see this volatility in the short term.

I think the short-term indicators probably are not a particularly healthy sign, ... Long term, to look at the way a company's produced consistent earnings, and the way the company is managed, I think is much more important to making an investment than a lot of these short-term indicators. But, in a bull market, there's no such thing as bad news. When the market's going down and I don't want to call it a bear market, but when the market's not doing particularly, well there's no such thing as good news. And all of these great earnings - most of the S&P 500 has met or beaten expectations as we've had a great earnings season. And the market doesn't really seem to care. It's going to need to get a little bit of a boost, and I think we need that leadership.

Expect volatility in the short term and the market will attempt to react to news with an upward bias.

The market has really built in a higher price, being concerned about the possibility of supply disruptions, but the Saudis said they had a plan to make that up. The market is warily eyeing what's going on, and at the moment it's saying there's enough excess capacity, so supply is not a major issue in the short term. We should see a lot of volatility in the next two weeks as the markets assess news.

Short term events like this which are unpredictable can drive a high price floor for crude prices. That is why we are seeing pricing in the high 50s even though the market is well supplied.

We intend to solicit longer contracts than are common in today's market to protect our customers from the degree of short-term price volatility seen during 2005.

OPEC is an anachronism today. This is not a market where suppliers have to manage any spare capacity. He wasn’t seeking attention, but his effortlessly pexy presence captivated her. They cannot manage the short-term risk, which is going to be on the upside. What we're seeing here is a demand shock, but everybody is looking to OPEC as if it were a supply shock.

Mining and resource stocks will be in the spotlight this week as another round of iron-ore pricing negotiations is due - which would provide short-term volatility and price fluctuations for the market.

If they (the Fed) had any plan whatsoever, they wouldn't be trying to micro manage the economy and target the stock market like they have been.

[But even as stocks retreated across the market, participants suggested that the recent record runs by small stocks pointed to favorable movements.] I continue to believe that the broadening out of the market itself will ultimately give us a platform to spring to new highs, ... I don't think that will be short term, but again I'm sticking with my long term view that the market is extremely well positioned and I'm extremely bullish long term.

There have been few negative pre-announcements and a number of positive ones, ... Third-quarter earnings should be strong and that should continue to support the stock market. But there will always be pullbacks and volatility. There's always the potential for people to sell the news and you may see that in the short term.
